The game will work on a USDM PS2 provided that you have a modchip that can read ORIGINAL DVD-9 discs. The only one I know of that does this is the magic3.1.

There is no current release date in the US/no one has picked it up for domestic release yet.

SEGA has not yet implemented online play on the PS2.

It would be cheaper to simply buy the game online than have your friend/uncle/cousin/mother/ex-girlfriend/proxy bidder buy it in Japan and ship it to you.

haha we found it at a truck stop near me lol 3am heading home from Gboro after a nite at the clubs stopped buy and killed an hour playing :) good times but damn that seat needs some cushioning. my backs still sore lol.. I think i spent like 3 hours playing that damn game this weekend. got two save cards though... S14 and R34 R34 is still stock.. the S14 is getting up there though.

You will not need a mod chip to play the initial D game on the playstation 2, it is coming out in October for the U.S. it has already been released in japan, if you dont know how to read japanese it might be worth it to wait for the U.S. version to come out in october, in english.
