OG Fat PS3s are currently down.. its like the Y2k bug!

hahahah nah but somethings going on,, cant access the PSN, and you cant play alot of games that use internet.. and the times on the systems have set back to 1999 or something. ALot of people are experiencing this, even fat ps3s that are not connected ot the net have seemed be experiencing this as well, but the newer slim systems are ok.

Mine is running fine but I haven't connected it in a while to update. Probably won't now.

I actually disconnected it from the internet because of the slow ass blu ray live that takes forever to load before movies.

So far its the internal clock on the fat ps3s, thats reseting back to 1999

if it doesnt go away on its own, people will have to update via usb if they come up with a fix.

i think it's just the old fat ps3. slims and other fat ps3 are working.


temp solution is remove the cmos battery to reset the internal clock. but, i rather wait for sony to fix it permanently .

Ok, last update.
So I took apart the PS3 (phat 20gig), unplugged the battery (it's not where the japanese pictures said it would be), left it out for ten minutes and then reassembled.

PS3 running again.
Got on PSN fine
played Heavy Rain fine
Theme are all ok
No corrupted saves
Earned a trophy fine
Turned ps3 off then back on and the trophy is ok
All the time stamps the system time seem ok
IF there is anything else someone wants me to check on let me.

So there's a fix if the internal clock doesn't fix itself in a few hours *GMT*

i just tried my OG ps3 right now and nothing went wrong i was able to sign in (no problems), then went on MW2 (no problems), then played a little bit of multiplayer (no problems)...maybe they fixed it by now?
this was the first time i turned it on today by the way.

my ps3 died a few days ago. file corrupted or something. reformat something. didn't work. all i could see was the background.. the next day tried it and didn't see anything at all. it's out of warranty too.. so i have to pay to fix it. if i lost all my save data (ps1/2/3 data.. a lot of it) i am going to say fuck it and pay for xbox live and start playing mw2 on that.
