hope i don't get in trouble for pasting this external link to another forum.

Cheap/Safe/Easy S13 5lug front hub conversion. - Hardtuned.net (http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=327691)

has anybody tried doing this swap??

i couldn't find anything about a write up for this swap but here's my question if you read the link.

since the s13 bearing is taller than the J30 hub... what are the specs to machining the j30 hub so you can put in the bearing retaining snap ring??

i probably misunderstood, but didnt he say there was only like a 2mm difference between the two. it looks like he just put it right above the original location. oh nvm i see what your saying now.. i dont know how he did that.

can anybody shed some more light on this and provide more details mainly on the machining part?

You need to move the retaining ring groove up more because the height of the s13 wheel bearing is taller then that of the j30.

yeah i got that part. but how much is more????????
lookin for numbers. cause im pretty sure you can't machine the hub with the bearing in it.

Why don't you just measure the height of the j30 bearing, then measure the s13 bearing.

The difference is how high the ring groove needs to be made.

I know multiple people that just run the shit without the snap ring. No machining required. Check it every event, everything's fine, no problems.

It's been years man. No bad news. I'm not telling you to do it, I'm just saying it's been done and nothing bad has happened.

I'm getting some of these tomorrow. You guys that run no snap ring are pushing your luck. Yes, nothing is probably going to happen, but if you hop a curb... some shit might go down.

^The easy solution to that issue is not to be a fucking jackass street drifter/drunk driver. Sober people that don't street drift rarely hit curbs.

I gotta find some hubs and make this happen... Cool thread, y0.
