Suddenly my car doesnt want to go past 2k rpm! help me!

I have sr20det-redtop on my s13.
I was driving my car today(it was raining),
The car was running nicely.
After driving about 20miles, my car started running weird, So I got off from the freeway,
I started driving slow and suddenly it didn't want to go more than 2000 rpms.
So I had to change my gears before 2000rpms on the way home.

When I put my car on netural, and step on the pedal, it goes up to redline smoothly. but when it's on 1st gear, bam! it won't go more than 2000 rpm and keep bogging..

what's the problem causing it? I searched but no answers.

please help me! this is first time having this problem..

btw my car is not running cat, black smoke comes out of exhaust, is it related to the problem or just normal?

Check your MAF?

My MAF went bad last year(on a KA though). Had major bogging issues and ran rich as hell.

yeah I am thinking about checking the maf. but can the maf go bad while driving? Thank your for the reply crimson.

i had a problem like that car couldnt go past 4k, it bogged i checked maf and check the piping, make sure nothing is loose. i hope this helps. i am running a gutted cat just for a little more info

Maf went bad on me while driving. So, yes.

Check maf plug and sensor.

Also check the maf wires mine had small cut in the wires so look out for that

check maf/sensor. double check your piping as well

the maf plug was loosen since the lock pin was gone somewhere.
