Hey guys,

just a simple hello to all the socal zilvians/peoples. I just recently relocated from Phoenix, AZ. Pretty excited to be here in LA, specifically El monte area...i'm definitely looking forward to making some new friends.... attending some meets and track events soon...

couple of questions (please feel free to pm me or post)

Any good shops around my area? (willing to drive to other nearby areas also)
- Alignment shops
- shops for motorwork / parts
- tire shops (preferably with cheetah)
- fabrication shops..(thinking bout getting a bashbar done)

Any meets around my area?

Delicious food joints to recommend?

All information about my area or LA in general would definitely be helpful and useful (positive or negative)

For shop check out Shutoko Eng.. theyre located in city of industry probably no more than 20 min drive.. but its worth the drive :D

thanks, I heard the cops are pretty picky about exhaust..i'll see how i get by for now..worst to worst, i got a apexi GT canister with silencer i can switch too..

yeah keep your car registered in AZ if you can, especially if your car is or is going to be modified.

even if your exhaust is quiet, the cops will still pull you over for shiny exhaust if they want to..just drive safe and you should be fine, there are a ton of modified jap cars (especially evo's and STi's) down here that are daily driven and rarely hassled by the police.

but there are a bunch of 240s down here, check out the regional section and hit up some meets, you will begin to meet some cool people and network a bit to get hookups on parts, maintenance services and basically everything you need to know about socal :bigok:

4 doors + new-ish = mostly exempt from police harassment.


Keep your AZ license and whatnot.
Contrary to popular belief, having out of state plates does NOT make you untouchable. Cops WILL still pull you over with AZ plates. They'll ask what you're doing there, how long you've been there, where your staying, etc. LIE LIE LIE LIE. DO NOT admit that you just moved. Say you're just visiting, that way, when they see you again, you can keep up the charade. This especially applies to you since you're far from stock looking. The moment you say you moved to the area, you'll get a ticket for something stupid. Exhaust, ref, too low, etc.

I will say this: You'll laugh everytime a cop passes you in the opposite direction and notices that you don't have a front plate, and flips a bitch to pull you over, only to see an AZ plate and leave you alone. lol


This is experience talking. I lived in Cali with AZ plates on my S13 for about 10 months. I was followed a lot, pulled over a lot, and bullshitted my way out of quite a few tickets.

yea, keeping my AZ plates and lic for as long as i can. I'm definitely gonna be playing the "oh good evening officer, i'm just visiting my sis from outta town card " for awhile. lolol Anyhow, with some granny shifting and down play, hopefully I'll slide under the radar for a bit..

nope, i've had my car for 3 years and i did a tear down and build, since october last year after the drift season ended in AZ. i did however sell my other hatch with a CA18 in it 2 weeks ago before i moved here...it was a sad day.

if your in AZ, then you might have spotted me... as i DD the car most days of the week or if you were at the Jan Drag&drift event at FIR you probably saw me running on the track...yea AZ doesn't have many events, i'm glad to be here in cali..tons more to do.
