OK, to make this on the topic of the 240, I was driving mine at the time this happened:
I got pulled over for speeding, he cited me for 48 in a 35. When I asked to see the radar he told me that he did not have it locked in and therefore could not see it. He then asked me if I was denying speeding, I told him no, because I was speeding, I'm not sure I was going quite that fast...
What do you think will happen? I'm 17, I don't really know if that matters. Also, I had an accident about a month ago that dropped to a non-moving violation. I live in Ohio. If anyone cares to give their opinion, I would appreciate it.

as you already admitted speeding, pay the ticket, and move on with your life. as long as you weren't in delaware where they take your license for one ticket, it should only be $65, thats what mine was. but since you're a minor you're gonna have to go to court with your parents

The cop doesn't have to show you jack. Also, if you hadn't said "let me see the the radar", then he might have dropped it to like a 44 in a 35, which is a $50 and two points (at least where I live). Whenever you get pulled over, always be nice and courteous. Just take the ticket and say thank you. Never said stuff like "I'll see you in court" or whatever. That only makes the cop go back to his car and write down every detail that happened. Most of the time, when cops go to court, they don't remember anything about the ticket. Because they do so many other tickets. So, sometimes you might get lucky in court. Someone a few months ago posted this site that had this awesome write up that this retired state trooper on how to get out of tickets. I can't find that thread tho.

I was in no way disrespectful to the officer. And I asked to see the radar after he had written the ticket, so he couldn't have lowered it. I am going to plead guilty anyway since as timmybgood already stated, I did already admit guilt. I was mostly just wondering if anyone has had a similar situation and whether the judge lowered the speed, as he did with a friend of mine.

I have been pulled over so many times. And I have never had to pay a single dime (knock on wood). I know several police officers, so they get me out of a lot of sh*t. One night I was coming home from work and I was doing 70 in a 45. I passed a cop and slammed on my brakes and tried to slide into a parking lot and run from the cop (the parking lot was on the other side of the road). Well, my brakes locked and I almost slid into a curb, so I pulled over on the other side of the road. The cop ran out of his car and told me to get out of the car. He asked me like 7 times if I had been drinking or using drugs. I finally got tired of saying no and started being a dick. When he asked me the last time if I had been drinking, I pulled down my bottom eye lids and said "LOOK, I HAVE NOT BEEN DRINKING! YOU MUST BE A NEW COP CAUSE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE DOING!" He got ****ed and asked me why I left tire tracks across 4 lanes of the road. He called for back up and one of my sister's friend's dads showed up along with another cop. After the first cop stopped harrassing me, the cop I know started talking to me and he talked to the cop and I got off on a warning.

hah, it was pretty funny seeing two of my friends getting arrested on the side of the road...turns out 5 days later he showed me a ticket for doing 145 in a 40...
needless to say it made him a star at our school
parents beware, give a kid keys to a 500+ hp olds 442, and things are bound to happen...

I just got my 1st ticket (in 3 years of driving) friday night. Actually it was 1 am sat morning, which was my 1st mistake. 1 am is when the bars close here so i knew the cops were out. Anyway it was for 90 in a 55, criminal speeding. But my summons doesn't have any mention of actual speed. It just says criminal speeding. The cop never even told me how fast I was going, he just asked me how fast I was moving. I said "around 90?," and he just looks at his pad and writes some more. Should I try to contest this? He could've arrested me and had my car impounded I believe.

I haven't read all the other crap in this thread..
ADVICE..
GO TO COURT on the court date. Dress nice. Before the court session starts the Magistrate will ask for everyone who is pleading guilty to a lessor charge (or something like that) on tickets to come forward. Go up there, WITH YOUR TICKET IN HAND, and hand it to them. They will reduce it right on the spot, usually without you even saying anything. If they ask anything, just say you are pleading guilty to a 44 in a 35. Pay the court costs, and fine, and leave.
You will have just saved yourself a **** load on your insurance. Insurance comapnies will allow you to get ONE ticket for 9mph or less over, AND one PJC (prayer for judgement)
DO THIS, or any future car purchases you think you might want to make will be haunted by rediculously high insurance rates.
I got hit for 114 in a 55 zone. I contested it by saying I normaly dont speed and was just being very stupid (Kinda true) (At lease the stupid part) Well they let me off with 480$ fine and a day it defencive driving class. I got (Neglagence II) much better then (Reckless Driving II) <-- thats up to 3k$ and/or 1 year in jail.
Contest it.. it will lower..
( The ticket never hit my insurance tho ) MUHAHAHA

115 in a 65, $65:D
the cop was into cars and asked me a bunch of questions about mine, we shot the breeze for like 40 min, so he dropped it down to 89 which isn't 25mph or more over, hence cheap ticket
75 in a 40 not even a warning (this was back in my Honda crx days) the cop pulled me over asked me where i was going being stupid and all i told the truth Subway and then he saw my military sticker on my windshield and all was gravy. we talked about the military and hey just told me i might not want to be in such a hurry for subway :bigok:

80 in a 45 and got a warning, its all about pointing out how wrecklass and such. So basically, the more you point out your carless and how stupid you've been, the more it'll help, most of the time. Unless they are :mrmeph: 's

It was when I had my permit, my dad was in the car with me. We were on the highway on-ramp and I was accelerating to get onto the highway. I was doing about 55-60 and I went to shift into 5th... but hit 3rd instead. Slowed down to 40-45 pretty instantly and before I could fix my mistake I saw the lights go on behind me. He just had a good laugh with my dad, I felt like I was going to die when I saw his lights turn on. He was really nice about it, said he was just making sure it wasn't a drunk driver or something cause of the sudden change in speed.
edit: Oh yeah, I drive an MR-2 by the way. I'm sure he wasn't expecting to see a sports car doing 25 UNDER the speed limit. :D

I was driving my friends van once an an old stretch of road doing 30ish in a 55 (don't know how fast i was going speedo was broke) well anyways he puilled me over and then proceeded to ask if i was ok after i replied i was fine. e sated he thought it was an old couple in the van and he thought one of them was having an heart attack for driving so slow :)
on our way back from a 1/4 track where none of us could race because we are under 18 (waste of a 2 hour drive ) 3 of my frends and I lined up at a stop light (2 in front 2 in back) and the the light turned green, I and 2 of the others spun tires and raced, after the light was a slight bend we went around it and a cop pulls all four of us over brings us to a parking lot and goes around for the usual liscense and registrations, all my frends were being rude and loud and i was polite, they all got reckless driving tickets and i got to laugh at them the whole ride home.

try 41 in a school zone(20). Believe me, i never go 1 mile over school zone speed limits, it totally did not seem like it was school time and the zone didnt have those flashing lights. I calculated the ticket and it would have come out to like 800+ dollars. I'm getting away with it by taking defensive driving for 90 bucks.
