You are correct, but that's not to say that they don't make any that are approved.

Alright so I have a Sparco Sprint and it has the tags on the left side of the seat. My question here is:
What exactly does the date stamped mean? Does that mean it expires on that month & year? Or does it expire a couple years from that date & month?

i think with the date stamp is that its like if the FIA says heres the new rules ur SOL b/c its out dated then and ive done my research b4 i just wanted to hear what others thought. thanks for the help and sorry for it being my first post im always on here i guess i just dont post lol. i just see everyone having nice seats in competitions and i wonder if people are getting mad hookups or just sucking it up and having to buy these expensive ass seats lol.

Karl's suggestion of the Sparco seat is pretty much in line as far as costs of other seats from Recaro (Pole Position) & Bride (Zeta 3) for seats new & FIA approved.
It's pretty much up to your waist lol. I'm a 30" & 5' 7" tall person & fit pretty snug in a Zeta 3. Any tighter & I would start to dislike it. Good luck hunting down your seat. :wan:

Same, a seat is a seat. It's just the rails that switch up.

- date stamp is date of manufacture, if it does not say fia xxxx(which designation) then it is just a date of manufacture. It is good for 3 years from that date(higher end sanctioning bodies), and it includes harness belts. It also depends on the rules the of the sanctioning body. Find out. Those $950 dollar seats sound good, but if they are 2 1/2 years old and your rules require them to be 3years max, then you'll be ok for 6months.
-don't buy seats because they are cheap, unless you can sell them easily. Only you know what is comfortable for you.
-seats cost that much. Most people don't have the hookups. They buy 1 seat and go from there. Nardi wheels are not cheap. Takata harnesses are not cheap. Bride/recaro is not cheap.
-only cheap fia approved seats that I remember was the momo start (around 300) and corbeau fx1(375ish), not sure if they are still fia legal. Don't get tube frame seats, they hurt.
-cheap harnesses would be some g-force.
-seats may sit high because of sliders or brackets, not the seat, not all the time.
