View Full Version : WWZD? (Keep the S14 in storage or sell?)

After starting grad school, I went ahead and bought a newer car. Although I've grown quite fond of the newer car (and less fond of the S14), I am worried about the issues that come with modifications (on the newer car, in the distant future) and OBDII emission testing.

I have received an offer of roughly $2K for my S14. I'm very tempted to take the offer but don't necessarily need the money. I also believe that I would be kicking myself in the future if I were to sell it (as it's a light RWD OBDI car with a extremely large aftermarket).

So Zilvians, should I go ahead and get rid of it and buy something nicer in the future or hang onto it for future modifications?

Also, the newer car that is I'm in love with is a FWD Ford. :ghey:

Thanks

If you don't need the money then keep it. Even if I get a brand new car I know I will keep my S14. I wish I have free storage for my S14 for 2 years while I'm in grad school.

My thoughts are that finding an unswapped 95 (OBDI) S14 in four years or so is going to be a pain. The fact that I'm pretty much screwed into keeping the stock ECU with an OBDII car instead of being able to use a standalone has really turned me off to 96+ cars. Is this an irrational fear or what?

I say keep it, but you still need to drive it. Trust me, after our cars sat while we were overseas for 4 years, they are pretty pitiful and need muchos love.

Not irrational to me since that was the same reason I bought my 95 a while back.

When I get time/money to work on it I plan on an engine swap plus pretty much replacing everything on the car that I can justify. It might as well just serve as a shell to me in its current form. Thanks for the input though. I may have to tell the potential buyer to back off. :whip:

i hadn't driven my s13 regularly for about four years, so i sold it.
it was totaled in under a week.
i am now seeking a new s13 project car, and plan to attend the 2010 convention.
if the s14 means anything to you, do not sell it.

2k for your s14? Why so little? For that price you should keep it.

Having another car makes life so much easier if for any reason something happens to your main ride.

Keep the car.

WWZD (WhatWouldZarDo) Keep the car. Question answered.

Lube it up and store it. $2k seems low for a S14 anyway.

id keep it purely for the fact you already "know the car". i hate buying cars that have had multiple owners that all do things to the car that the next owner never knows about till its too late. 4 years from now good luck finding a 240 thats not on its 7th owner.

glad to know 2k is low for an s14. i couldnt sell my daily for 2500 with a spotless body and AC. maybe its just TX.

Sell it.

You can always buy another down the road.
Dont put sentimental value on material things in life or they will control you.
value them, but dont let worry about them control you.
Let it go.
Its just gonna sit there for a few years and be sold eventually.

I waited 10 years to buy another one.
Glad I didnt keep it around till i wanted it again.

you can replace anything like that in life easily.
And as your older, you will have more money and be able to get whatever condition one you want.

Could just be the miles.

OP while you are at it you should post your car and let us give you a price that you should start around if you do decide to sell it.

Im guessing after grad scool you will be making decent moneys. So if you really are going to work on the s14 after that time, i would say keep it. You will be able to do more of the things you want to.

If your passion for the S chassis has faded, then i say sell it. Let someone else destroy it or fix it up or whatever.

A fwd ford? really?

Thanks for the input everyone. I believe I'm going to take the advice given and keep it for when I can modify it the way I want.

I'm sure many people have pondered this. 2K is very low IMO for an s14. Maybe put it into storage for a little while or somewhere where you won't be around it.

See if you miss it, then make a decision :]

2k for a s14 ...thats a deal...but my advice to you since it dosent seem like ur to into ur car at the moment is just put it up for sale, try to make money dnt just get rid of it for 2k..u said you dnt need the money so try to get the most money for your car n make it worth it if u sell the car. n if no buyers then just keep the damn thing its a 240 man car is a clasic ;)
