alright ive searched all over the damn place.
the information i need to know is:
can i remove the open diff unit(s14) from the pumkin and install it in a vlsd pumpkin. (j30)
the splines for the halfshafts are all murdered out on the vlsd and i have an open diff sitting in my garage and curious if i can swap the OPEN DIFF into the VLSD pumpkin?
the issue of why im doing this is because i need this car to drive like tomorrow and just need some shit to roll on for now
the open diff pumpkin is a NONABS pumpkin and j30 is ABS so i cant just swap them out. because i dont have a NONABS driveshaft
anyone?
or pretty much im just wanting to know if people have swapped a j30 vlsd unit into an open diff pumpkin.

The output shafts are NOT interchangeable between a VLSD and an open diff.
Furthermore, the J30 ring gear is thicker (offset to one side more)...so if you were to try and put the open diff "center" into the J30 case...you'd need to use the J30 output shafts, as the open diff shaft would be too short on one side, and too long on the other.
SO...if your VLSD output shafts are ruined (splines "are all murdered out"???)...then you'll need new VLSD output shafts, no matter what option you go with.
Think of the "center" and the "output shafts" as a matching set.

all i want to do is install the open diff "center" into the j30 pumpkin
i researched and found that all i need to do is swap the pinion gear from the open case into the j30 case.
then drop the "center" as u call it into the j30 case, with the OPEN halfshafts
i am not using anything "j30" or vlsd anymore except the j30 pumpkin
but all this shit is r200 so it should work yeah?

Your research is wrong.
The open diff output shafts have a different end versus the VLSD shafts. You cannot mix/match.

dude im not wanting to put vlsd halfshafts into an open diff
maybe i fail at explaining but whatever i got this shit back together now
i was talking about taking the OPEN DIFF AND HALFSHAFTS and PINION and putting it all into the j30 pumpkin.
it worked

i was talking about taking the OPEN DIFF AND HALFSHAFTS and PINION and putting it all into the j30 pumpkin.
The open diff pinion will not work in a J30 case...the snout on the J30 case is longer, to accomodate the ABS ring/sensor.
The open diff pinion is shorter, there is NO WAY it works in a J30 case.
???
Did you just swap the ring gear (the big one) and the open "center" into a J30 case? (and use the open diff output shafts)??
If so, that will eat itself alive within a few miles...the ring and pinion are a set, and wear together.

oh. well thats what i was asking in the first place
and i know how to dissasemmble diffs and shit. im not some retard fanboy lmao
i was asking if i could swap the ring/pinion/open unit/halfshafts/shims and all into the j30 but you just answered my question.
but i was able to get the j30 orignal vlsd back together with no issues after some persuading from a heavy weighted slide hammer
thanks
