Im sure a lot of zilvians love to snowboard just as much as I do. I go about 3-4 times a week every season. Post pictures of you boarding , your setup, discuss your favorite mountain, gear, etc.

I just switched from a Burton Se7en to a Lib Tech Skate Banana and reverse camber has changed my life! Mt High is my home mountain which is why I love socal. 1 hr to the beach, 1 hr to the mtn. Currently rocking a Burton Cartel Bindings and a System jacket.

Haha yeah Mt High rocks. I know sometimes the snow isnt always the best but its so close compared to Bear Mountain, Mammoth, Tahoe. I love the park so that makes up for a lot of it.

I was VERY skeptical as well but you have to at LEAST try it out. It will change everything. I let my friends ride my board and after 1 run they are sold. Even my girlfriend who just learned to carve rode my board and I was seriously struggling to keep up with her. She is selling her brand new board to get something with BTX.

At the start of this season I sustained 2 minor concussions, so now I wear a helmet. So far it has saved me from 4 more concussions. (couldnt find a picture)

Started boarding back in the 80's. Took the last couple years off because I just didn't have the time or money, but been doing a lot of boarding the past two months though since I can't skate. I would almost say I like snowboarding better than skateboarding, if it wasn't so damn expensive.

Love hitting massive kickers with huge gaps, which you really can't do on a skateboard.

Really nice board driftsilvias13. Not going to get a new board till next season, but that was on my list of possible boards to buy. I think I am going to go with a NS evo next year, but will wait and see what everyone comes out with.

I'm sure you could definitely go, but the snow would gargle balls. It would all be packed blown snow.

Its still fun though, i go to big bear pretty often even if they haven't gotten fresh snow recently. its better than nothing. The park stuff is still good, but my favorite stuff is the backwoods between-the-trees pow that is only good RIGHT after it dumps snow.

BTW i ride a GNU Altered Genetics with Ride tomcat bindings. Its a few years old now but i love that thing, by far the best board i've owned.

Is it mainly a park board these are going on? If so I say go for it, they are one of the sickest park bindings out right now. I will be riding the EST Malavita's this year, just can't decide yet on wings or no wings.

The only thing different on the none EST malavita's, is they don't have the Hinge, which is kind of a cool concept.

I have started snowboarding in 1998. First few years had Season Passes, and spent a few birthdays up at Silverstar MTN in Vernon BC. Interior mountains are the best. Whistler sucks. Sorry no action shots... often I was the photographer.

Ill hopefully be able to go snowboarding more this year. I have a Burton Blunt, with Burton Mission bindings and Burton Moto Boots, and for clothes i have DC pants and Jacket.

learned my lesson on that last year, first time out i was at a small moutain that didnt really maintain the slopes and it was pretty much ice all the way down. i keep falling and falling and each time i hit my head, at the end of the day i had a fractured my nose torn skin off my forehead and had a concussion.

Yup, at the comm squadron, I control all the cadets networks essentially.

Local mountains are where I shred mainly. There are 6 within an hour and a half of my house so it's pretty decent, haha. Five in BC, and a couple times a year I'll duck across the border down to Baker in WA.

Hoping to make it out to the interior again this year. You guys want to experience amazing riding, the interior of BC is where it's at... Big White, Silverstar, etc... check it out if you can!

Guys, careful when you're out there boarding. Always wear protection! Was watching the news and saw that a girl died at Mt. High this past weekend after running into a tree. Worst part is I actually went to hs with this girl. Very sad. Just make sure you stay in slopes that are adequate for your skill level!

Yeah I am pretty good and NEVER wore a helmet. One time at bear my buddy went off the first kicker and landed on his head. His helmet broke and he got a major concussion while also fracturing his back. Helmet saved his life.

The next day I bought my gf and myself a helmet and wear them every time. Getting too old to get injured now!!

what size is the board, and what size was your old board? longer boards have less response but are more stable at high speeds. shorter boards have more response but are less stable at high speeds. so maybe you changed sizes in which case it would feel different. there are other variables too like board flex, camber vs rocker blah blah. perhaps the board just needs a tune.

Went to Northstar yesterday with a few friends. Not all the courses were open yet, but it was still a blast.

Lots of powder, and little ice. Spent the latter part of the day at the park. I can't wait to go back up next week!

If sharpening the edges doesn't work, i would suggest a base grind. The ptex will wear faster than the edges. It makes it difficult to catch an edge.

I've been up there almost every weekend. They constantly are changing up the features and they have a bunch of different parks to suit various skill levels.

Why do I snowboard with goofy set up?? unlike standard?

You should ride however is most comfortable to you.

There is no advantage to riding regular vs goofy.

Ideally you will learn how to be effective at riding switch (both directions).

If you are riding primarily one make sure the front is facing down the hill. Some boards have a particular shape which is best when ridden facing forward.

If your looking for a cruise board, 157-159 is what you should look into. Also, camber, reverse camber, flat kick, etc are some variables you need to consider

Can I revive this thread? It's that time of year again, and for us in Southern California I think we've already gotten more snow than the last couple years combined. Has anyone taken a trip yet? I tried to go up Mt High after work last night but I got there and they were closed so I had a very spirited (angry) drive back down the mountain and to my house.

My base (Edwards AFB) is taking a trip to Mammoth this weekend, unfortunately I already have plans so I can't go with. Does anyone know/has anyone ever snuck by the chain up stations around Mt High? I was planning on going up after work today but their site says you need chains for the LAST MILE. I have a truck but it's not 4wd...
