So my 13 has been kickin it in my garage for the past few days, i've been driving my dd alot lately. it's been 3 days, and i went to start it the other day and the battery is dead. not even my instrument panel lights up, so i took the battery out and had it charged at vatozone. and it was at 2.1volts when i dropped it off. an hour later i picked it up with a charge of 12v+. put it back in and of course starts up perfect. now today a day later, i went to start the car again. batteries dead again.. keep in mind this battery was purchased a month ago. and the cells have been tested twice. and i know i didn't forget anything on that would drain it, because im anal about that. but i did recently buy some HID's. 8000k. my question is. for all you people running hid's does it draw power just being plugged in? they're the ones from the zilvia group buy.

thanks.

You could have fucked up the wiring and something is grounding out. Either the wiring for that or something else grounding out. Most of the time its something with the radio harness too. But easiest way is hunting it. Its called a parasitic power drain, do a google search on it and that can guide how to look for it with a test light or multimeter.

Yeah, the HIDs themselves are not drawing any power while the car is off, unless the lights are on. From what I understand is that HIDs draw a lot of power when they're first turn on (when you hear the buzzing noise) but once they're at operating temperature they draw about half the amount of power than a standard light.

Yeah HID kit's are actually meant to use less energy than regular halogen bulbs...

Hunt down your wiring problem as im sure that's what your problem is,

I assume you already checked your alternator? after you drive it, and shut it back down, check the voltage. see if its still at 12 volts or if it has dropped. probably not it, but I'd start there before I chased down wiring.

the ballast should draw 12v, only when the lights are lit up.. thats it.
