Well Friday the 13th, full moon, stuff just has to happen!!!!!
My Friday started off early, I was in town on Thursay night just cruzin around in my Eclipse, and a little after midnight my car decides to die. I was driving down the main drag goin about 35mph not shifting or anything when all of a sudden WACK!!! Unsure of what had happend I pulled off the side of the road and checked out the front end I thought maybe I had hit something that I didnt see. Well no damage to the front so I walked aroud the car to check it out when I saw the blood trail. This is when the cursing begins. My transmission decided it was time for it to blow stuff outta the side. I pushed my car under the nearest light pole to try and check out the damage couldnt really see what had happend and didnt have a flash light to look under the car. I call my parents and they come to get me. So the next morning (which is actually Friday) the tow truck guy brings my car to my office. The jackass used the wrong tires straps and my car slid around on his dolly scratching the hell outta my front bumper that I just had repainted the week before. So by this time I am ****ed, but the guy does pay for it to be repainted again so my ****ed level drops.
Now the hunt for a transmission. A word for the wise never break a 99 eclipse transmission!! Call the local junkyards first cheapest one I can find is $1150 dollars. Being that expensive I called the Mitsu dealer to see what a new one would cost- $2700. So I told them they could keep that I would hunt down a used one. Get out the phone book and try junkyards farther away. I find one for $650 lot better price but it is almost 3 hours away and i really dont have the money to blow on it right now anyways. Luckly I had friends that were headed that way and offered to pick it up.
Last Eclipse problem I have never messed with the tranny of a FF car before so if anyone has some pointers please share. I have good mechanical abilities just have never had to chage tranny on FF before.
Now to my 240. Well first off my 240 has been in the making for over a year now. I was supposed to have body work done and painted by the end of the month, but do to my need of a new tranny for my mitsu I have to spend the money I had saved for paint on the tranny.
I am pretty much ****ed off at everything I want rid of the Eclipse and I am so tired of working on my 240 that I just want to part it out and get rid of it.
I am sick of not having a warranty on my cars, if it breaks I have to pay for it and fix it myself. So my parents tell me to buy a new car.
I want to see my 240 project though cause I have given so much time and research to it. So here is my question to you, would you give the project up when it is nearly completed and go buy a new car? If I do get a new car it will be a 350z.
Cliff notes:
Mitsubish Eclipses suck ***!
never tear the tranny out cause they are expensive
having money saved for other projects comes in handy when you break other ****
sould i give up my 240 project when it is close to being finished
if I do I am gonna buy a 350z
