Well it figures, Out on a night of cruisin, I roasted my clutch to a crisp.

Driveble, but gone.

I decided to take off in second at more RPM than usual and when I pulled out the clutch, I smoked it to the core. Bad timing exercise in driving skill.
The more you know, the more you forget. Unleashing my engine into that clutch at that tourque curve and RPM 0.1 seconds too late resulted in a totally BBQ'ed clutch where even now, you touch the throttle in 4th and it revs up slipping...

Fried.

Since this IS my daily driver and limited income, should I just go to a-zone and get theirs and put it in...or is their something NOW I could get shipped Monday that is a whole lot better for close to the price?

170 budget today or take the bus.

CPTOB

Clutch, Pressure plate, throw out bearing.

Not doing comp..but the street power will ruin any of them if I make that mistake again.

This is a fun project.

First thing you need is an open end wrench 14mm to remove the 4 capscres and nuts *(with lock washers) from the differential of the drive shaft. Second, a 17mm socket to remove the torque damper screws and then it pushes in, and lowers out. That is what it takes to get the driveshaft out. Easy.

But wait!

their is more..

So, looking over the situation, I had to put the driveshaft back in...because I did not have jackstands...just a floor jack. So I go to autozone and pick up 4 jackstands (only 17.99 a pair), some gear lube, and some engine cleaner. I will need the floor jack to hold the tranny in place when I get ready to pull it. So now, the car is way up in the air on 4 jack stands. Our cars are ridgid as hell. I had all the stands under there and was inspecting them..and the left front corner stand had no weight at all on it due to the slab being imperfect...so I shimmed it. You must try to have equal weight on all the jackstands for them to be safe.

I pulled the shaft again and I am going to wait until the morning to do the rest..(misquitos were getting bad at 6PM) and I really hope I have a tool to get to the top tranny bolts. If anyone can recommend what they use for them, help me here...because the look like a pain in the a s s ...

On my mazda, I used a lot of extentions and a universal joint to get a grip on them with a socket. I really do not want to go out for another tool run. Got to have it done by 1PM tommorrow, I got a recording gig with a live band that I simply cannot miss...and BBQ and beer heheh

Okie!
