What tools would be necessary for this procedure? obviously a full set of metric wrenches, jack/jackstands and an engine hoist and stand would be essential. anybody have some real good web resources or advice on this?

Jeeze dude, It takes the toolbox and more...but really, we have a little unknown "secret section" for you for swap info.

http://www.zilvia.net/f/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=11

And then their is the search button. Simply type in your subject line and read for hours.

Ok....not trying to diss you...but..

Chain fall hoist or engine crane
All metric and sae sockets from 5MM (SAE 3/16ths) to 18MM (SAE 1"socket) to round out your box.

1/4 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive ratchets.

Wide assortment of end wrenches, box and open 6 and 12 point on the box.

Volt ohm meter.

Fluids, oil, etc...

Most importantly, an experienced other set of eyes to guide you...which is what the search is all about.

Drop about 200 at Sears on a full ratchet, extention set. Get some drip pans and some cleaner..and go to town with it.

Buy some halogen lighting so you can see really good what you are doing, on stands...less than 80 bucks a pair.

A large fan to keep you cool.

Plenty of Mountain dew or Dr pepper....and some beer when finished for that day. Preferably Nattie ice 16OZ tall boys @5.9% alc. Be a Man and like it.

Hit the search. Their are 2000 pages of printable info on the swap...and links.

Really, it is all there.

before you spend your money on craftsman tools, check out wal-mart. i got a decent stanley toolset (200+ piece) with toolbox plus matching cabinet all for 99 bucks!. I've beaten the crap out of these tools and they seem to hold up just as well as my craftsman set. and they also have limited lifetime warranty as well. i know its the best investment i've ever made.
