National 240sx Convention 2010 Official Info Page!

The dates are August 13, 14, and 15 2010 (Still happening in SoCal, Los Angeles Area).

For all of you out of towners, please get your jalopy fixed now so that way the caravan doesn't have to stop to fix your car ;) Also, for those of you coming in from out of state, please let me know if you need assistance finding a hotel to stay at (if you do not have a place to crash here in SoCal already).


I need regional contacts for arranging the caravan. I know there are some people on other forums, or run other regional 240sx forums that have started preliminarily planning this. Please contact me regarding this.

We also still need a grapic designer. Someone to design the T-shirt/sticker and Logo. I know a lot of ppl pm'd me about this, please contact me again with a sample logo for the event. I have literally thousands of PMs about the event, but need you to put GRAPHIC DESIGN in the title and ATTACH a sample logo in the PM you send me. ;)

good luck with that. i was the only one to drive from the east coast at the 02 convention. there were several people that took the easy route and flew out. i don't see there being as much of a crowd this time around as there was in 02.

reasons? the economy is in the shitter. most folks aren't going to want to spend over a grand on this trip (between gas, food, and lodging), they aren't going to want to drive 40 plus hours there and back, and the 240sx community has been taken over by a bunch of bandwagon drifter wannabe's not true nissan enthusiasts. the 240sx community has been chopped up to a bunch of local and regional divisions. prior to the 02 convention most enthusiasts knew each other from the old amarok email list. so even though the community was spread out across 3000 miles, people still knew each other from online. point being, back then members couldn't wait to meet each other in person. where as now, there are a bunch of "enthusiasts" in their own back yard. and their sentiment will be, "why drive all the way to california when i can meet people right here in my own back yard." (i've already seen this on our local forum.) and lastly, people have no sense of adventure anymore.

again, good luck. lol. i'd go again in a heartbeat, but i'm one of the 10% without solid employment. (i.e. part time.)

I live in Springfield MO which is about as central as you can get and route 44 goes right through the middle of Springfield. Only problem is I'm not 100% I will be driving. We are really leaving it up to the Caravans to work this stuff out themselves.
Through this forum, other major 240 forums, and local forums.

I will also be contacting the head organizer of each caravan down the road.
I will be needing photo and video media from each caravan.
Parts of it will be used in the Video/Documentary from the 2010 convention.

i would suggest trying to keep the routes as direct as possible.
Also keep them through fairly populated areas.
(in case of car trouble, or needing more hotels)
It is alot of driving and can get dangerous after 12 to 14 hours on the road.
The last thing we want is any kind of accident on your way here.
So please keep safety, vehicle liability and traffic laws in mind when planning your routes.

I hope a lot of you can make this.
Its gonna be an amazing event to be part of, and wont be done again for quite sometime.
grab life by the reigns, and go on an adventure with your peers that share your interest.
Bring your sleeping bags and air matresses.

um no. i'm not mad at anyone. i was merely pointing out the facts. as for wannabe drifters helping create an aftermarket for parts, that's debatable. i imagine they did help, but there were already parts out there before the whole drift craze. as for how old school i am, i bought my s14 brand new. there are not many here (or anywhere that can make that statement.) the only screen name i've ever used was fos240. i just recently joined this forum (dec). i was on the amarok email list and 240's over atlanta when the 02 convention was created. afterwards i joined fresh alloy. then carolina nissans and ka-t.org. i've never been banned, and i don't forget emails or passwords.

i went to the 01 UNON (united nations of nissan) meet in kc, the 02 convention, the 03 convention, and i was signed up for the 04 convention but it got canceled. by far the most enjoyable was the 02. it was definitely worth the drive. i am not hating on the convention nor anyone hosting or attending the convention. i hope the convention is successful. i was merely stating the reasons i don't think the turnout will be as successful as in 02.

In 2002 there were quite a few people from the midwest and the eastcoast that made the trip. From upstate new york, canada and the southern part of florida if I recall correctly.

The caravans will all be taken care of in good time.

Its still numerous months away.
They will start on the local forums and then end up on here and Nico.
From there, they will all be combined as to the times of passing certain areas and the quikest route for each caravan.

I'll be there unless something horrible happens between now and then. I was a volunteer at the 02 meet and had a blast (and met 99% of you at least in passing that went as I was a parking director). I still have all my chit from that meet... the unopened shirt, dash placecard, lanyard, program, and the dvd [have a cameo interview]..... was such a good 3 days. even Don from PDM-racing came. I'm keeping the msg board I moderate up to date on this event, and will be checking back often. Thanks for doing this Kevin and Lisa, I'm sure it will be a great success.

As far as we know.

Friday will be the big meet at SpeedZone, like in 2002.
Lotsa of different kart tracks meets dave and busters, plus lots of room and a large parking lot.
(I had my 31st Bday there with about 20 zilvia members and friends, and its super fun in a large group!)

Saturday is the "Meet"

Will we be able to run a few drift groups on HTM? I'm sorry but imo balcony is well...eh I wouldn't even waste the money on balcony, use that money for more good food, or stickers/shirts for the event. Just run seperate groups, drift group and grip group, rotate them throughout the day (every 15 minutes or so)

The friday and saturday are being finalized.

Friday evening, night. The meet and greet.
The original place we wanted it was trying to pay ALOT of their years rent off of our one night it seemed like, lol.
Plus, all the cars would have to be in some deep end of the parking lot.
The commity, and i completely agree, decided this wasnt good for our cars, and didnt want a large portion of the funds sucked up that way.

Saturdays convention day is being put together.
we believe we have a good spot thats decently close to WSIR, has shade, bathrooms, and is more then a big parking lot.

Sunday is at Willow springs.
Drift on Budweiser Balcony course, and Grip on HTM.

Friday will be something fun and interactive.
Saturday will be great, and the newer venue we are working on securing will be much better for everyone involved.

And since we are putting drift on the balcony, we arent as worried about people damaging their cars in ways that would make it difficult to get them home.
And to the grip guys on HTM, make sure your cars are running cool.
That 11% grade every lap doesnt help keep those turbos cool :)


As it filters in, we will keep you all posted.

so bring pop ups, umbrellas or hats and shades.
The grocery store and rite aid and all that is 10 minutes down the main road from the track.
just make sure your cars are ready and that you wear sunscreen :)

From the last time I checked in with the organizers.......

If things do happen this year, it will have to be alot smaller then already planned.
Even with some sponsors, it still takes just under 20K to pull this off the way they wanted, and thats pretty much all up front money.
So as you can imagine, this is the worst year for anyone to just have several grand to put into something like this.

Last I heard, it may be going on still in a smaller scale, with plans for a larger one the year after.

But that was a month ago.

Hopefully updates soon.
I can try to get some info if I have a minute.
But I am building a drift car from the shell up starting later this week, shooting 3 music videos this week, in preproduction for a gore movie and more.
And my schedule doesnt get any easier.

A majority of the planning committee has been extremely busy the last 6+ months.

At least 2 of us have been in school fulltime, another has had a kid, and others have had other life crap going on.

To say that we still want this to happen is putting it lightly, but we don't want to half-ass it.

We will NOT half-ass it.

As of right now, we don't have any venues secured, and that is the single-most important factor stopping us.

We have a large list of possible venues for the convention, the track event and the meeting/dinner/whatever, as well as tons of information on catering, etc etc.

We've put in a significant amount of time researching the best way to do this because we want it to go great.

We're unwilling to try to make a half-assed event happen, because we want to make sure that it's an event we can be proud of. We'd rather push it back to 2011 and make it awesome than try to force it to happen this year and have it suck.

By no means am I the voice of all the planners, but I know that most of them would agree with me in this.

Don't lose hope and give up on us. We want this to happen WAY more than anyone else, we won't give in until this happens, and when it happens, it'll be amazing.

It sounds like alot of people really don't have their cars ready AND OR lack the funds / scheduling time off to go anyway. I agree this was a shit year for most.
But there definitely needs to be more bodies involved that can help to make a solid plan of action. I for one want to suggest that anyone wants to go, to pony up say for example $30 for an event shirt featuring sponsors of the event or something like that. Nobody here has a problem with helping to fund their own event. So raising 20K should not be a problem at all. I will commit 5 gift vouchers for new wings if you do a raffle at the event. But man, we really need to snap this thing into reality. A couple of you are here in S.D. county near me. So if you want to put a meeting together to do some brain storming, im all for it.

good luck with that. i was the only one to drive from the east coast at the 02 convention. there were several people that took the easy route and flew out. i don't see there being as much of a crowd this time around as there was in 02.

reasons? the economy is in the shitter. most folks aren't going to want to spend over a grand on this trip (between gas, food, and lodging), they aren't going to want to drive 40 plus hours there and back, and the 240sx community has been taken over by a bunch of bandwagon drifter wannabe's not true nissan enthusiasts. the 240sx community has been chopped up to a bunch of local and regional divisions. prior to the 02 convention most enthusiasts knew each other from the old amarok email list. so even though the community was spread out across 3000 miles, people still knew each other from online. point being, back then members couldn't wait to meet each other in person. where as now, there are a bunch of "enthusiasts" in their own back yard. and their sentiment will be, "why drive all the way to california when i can meet people right here in my own back yard." (i've already seen this on our local forum.) and lastly, people have no sense of adventure anymore.

again, good luck. lol. i'd go again in a heartbeat, but i'm one of the 10% without solid employment. (i.e. part time.)
