Alright guys (and girls, no offense..), I'm just getting into 240s, and I'm looking to pick up an 1st gen (89 to 94 right?) and I'm wanting to know if there are any that I want to avoid. I know I want a hatchback because I think the ones with the trunk are ugly as hell, but what else? I think I read somewhere the 89 and 90 have a different motor than the rest. Is there an advantage to owning a newer one? What are the differences in this generation? Thanks

Unlike Honda vehicles, 240SX's are not categorized in generations (I dont think Nissans in general are catagorized into generations so you must be from the Honda planet). Also, not a wise move to flame the coupe/notchback/car-with-trunk versions when you're asking them for advice. And you need to SEARCH. Even Google will work on this one. READ BEFORE YOU POST.

Ehhh Yea, I appreciate the post but you just wasted an entired paragraph without really telling me anything... I'm not flaming the trunk version, I just personally don't care for them. I have respect for everyone here and what they like, just voicing my own opinion. If you want to drop a Chevy 350 in your pink 88 Supra, you go for it. I'm right behind you, but it doesn't mean I'm not gonna chuckle at you a little.

Generally people tend to stick to the 91+ because of the newer engine, unless they're doing a swap right away. The engines that came in the 240 are the KA24E and KA24DE (D standing for DOHC). Personally, I'm a real fan of the s13 Zenki (89-90) style 240sx. You can pick them out by the nostrils in the front. It's got a bit more of an 80s look to it which I find appealing. I'm not alone in this, but there are still few who would agree with me, hehehe.
