MB Battles vs 5zigen FN01rc

I've narrowed it down to two wheels. MB Battles or FN01rc in bronze. Both will be 17x9 but which is the better quality wheel? I want performance over fashion, strong and light. But if the difference is minimal between the two then i'd go with the battles.

fwiw i've never had mb wheels, but i've owned 5zigens. 5zigens have been around for ever and are heavily involved with japanese motorsports so i'm sure their is a reason for that. a couple buddies run mb's and they track them and they've had NO issues. but i would imagine that 5zigen is better quality simply because they are a wheel designed for motorsports and again, they've been around forever. honestly, just pick which ever you like best because neither are going to perform any less then the other or hold up any less.

Look up the Modified Magazine wheel shootout. 5zigen FN's compare well with the best wheels in the world. (Volk, AME, etc)

eh that was BARELY a test. it just showed density, weight, and lap times...highly inconsistent and many variables that were'nt addressed. all it showed was that the 5zigens had one of the quickest lap times. nothing that talks about durability(and the stats that encompass that)...which aside from weight is the most important aspect of a wheel

You forgot rotational inertia, which is THE most important aspect of a performance wheel IMO.

And density does have to something to do with how durable the wheel is. I'm sure 5zigens are as durable as any other wheel.

that sums it up right there. unless you're building a track car i don't see why you're agonizing over this issue. even then it's not like MB's are going to fall apart or something. I got bronze battles because i like the way they look. even if they're in a million other s14's alreaday i don't give a shit. and i plan to get isis coils and suspension arms-why? because if i worried about the zilvians crying about non branded shit my head would explode. so go with your gut, buy what appeals to you.

the 17x9 battles come in a high offset so they are flat faced and they look like shit, if ur gonna go with a cheap wheel atleast get them in a nice size and offset so they look good

If you're buying sub $1000 wheels you'll be hard pressed to find much, if any real, manufacturing differences.

They're all cast bs wheels that you're just getting to make yourself feel better about your car.

There are a lot of websites that can tell you wheel weights and offsets, after that all that matters is the style of wheel you want.

This question comes up way too much on this forum.

What this SCREAMS to me, especially considering the remainder of your body of work, is that you do not care to take the time to LEARN anything about the car you have so chosen to own, instead you would like to be spoonfed the information from people who have been in these cars for up to 20 years now.
