Hey guys. I have a 91 240sx with stock ka24de. I went for smog today, and the curse of smog struck me and the Check Engine Light turned on in the middle of the test. Its not a solid light, and blinks on and off randomly. It could be as random as me touching the gas pedal and it turns on, to hitting a bump and also having it turn on. It comes and goes as it pleases. Also with the car on ACC, the lights in the lower left of the instrument panel dont come as they should. Any input? thanks in advance.

um no, knock sensor, as soon as you rev or do anything itll vibrate it and make the check engine light pretty much brink on and off to the vibration.

Seriously? Dude first check the ecu to see if it ACTUALLY throwing a code instead of replacing shit everyone else is guessing about. Post up the code if it is throwing one and we will go from there.

only if it throws a code 34 but usually when it does that the ecu retards the timing.
my car did the same thing. your motor mounts good? mine were shot there for sending a ping to the sensor everytime i hit the gas.

No theres no code. Just the 55 code, which im pretty sure means no errors. As for engine mounts, they need to be replaced. another problem i ran into, was when i was taking apart the dash, my screwdriver crossed two terminals behing the ignition. Where you put the key in, behind the unit there are a series of terminals and the screwdriver touched 2 together and now my tach and speedometer dont work. I know something obviously shorted out, as i did see a giant ass spark, any thoughts? I swapped in a new cluster and still the same problem. Maybe the ECU?
