you need a reconstruction sticker (i think they still enforce this). anytime you drive a car in hawaii, you will need a safety inspection. they won't give you a safety inspection sticker unless you have a reconstruction permit. 240 scenes is not as big as it is in cali..... but there are many nice looking s-chassis there. i would go to forumshawaii.com to look for any car meets or laws about modified cars.

I didn't have much problem with cops. i have owned many modded cars in hawaii but nothing major happened to me. as long as you are chill, i dont' think they will bother you. just make sure you get that reconstruction permit though.

Weather is ok. hot most of the time. a lot more humid than cali..... it rains more frequently than cali so be prepared for that.

As far as girls, yes, you will find many hot girls there.

Yea they have somthing called recon which basically needs to be OEM stock etc. The drift scene what I herd they closed down their only track a while back. I think they have couple events at aloha stadium once in a while not sure if they still do em. Girls are fkn hotties!! Great bod and great tan going on there. Weather is pretty humid but you'll get used to it. I lived there for 15 years and moved to Cali 5 years ago I dunno how much has chaged but its nice get boring after a while you know. When you're on an Island you only can go so far.

Its been 5 years since I was out there. I lived there for a little over 4 years and when I was there the scene for s chasis is pretty decent. Just try to find some locals to help you out with info. I believe they have a track on other island. If they finished the iner island fairy that is always an option.

Yeah they still have recon here and it is enforced for sure. I have tried the whole if you're being cool they wont hassle you. Doesn't really work it only takes one cop really. Recon wasn't as hard to get for me personally as I thought. If you want to learn more about that I can direct you to a local forum with information on it. engine swaps can be made legal from what I have heard. haha my safety check is also up at the end of this month so I will see what they say when I go to take my car now that I have the recon paperwork.

are there any regular meets out there? I'll be at turtle bay for the week of may 1st. I'd love to check out some of the local talent.

hmmmm not really for regular meets. I know that every so often guys on forumshawaii will organize a meet and cruise though. Not sure if anything will be happening around that time yet but you can PM me when it gets closer and I can check and let you know.

I was thinking how much it sucks having a modded car there...the cops are always bound to see your car once in a while right? since on an island.

haha it all depends on the officer. the older ones are normally pretty chill. its the rookies that will pull you over. its pretty bogus since it is revocable if you get pulled over and you're car does not meet the specs listed on the recon paperwork but for the most part i think that once you have the sticker they will leave you alone.

Kwonza - i see you're from the 808 just curious what area?

i know this thread is old but since I'm not a forumshawaii kinda guy I'd figure i tack on to this thread.

There's actually quite a few of modded cars in Hawaii. I am not going to comment on the quality or the taste, because that guy sure must of thought it was good looking to have put <insert mod here> and drove around in it. Recon is hit or miss. Problem with recon is that even if you have the sticker you can still get pulled over and if you don't keep your recon updated then it doesn't really matter. I'd say the majority of people don't get recon and just risk it.

Track is long gone, they are fighting hard to bring up a new track, but it's really really proven to be a tough sell. Stadium events for drifting were short lived, I think the only thing goin on is the SCCA stuff. Everybody says tantalus is fun for drifting but honestly I don't think so. 1 way up 1 way down if you get caught yer f*d and the neighborhood is really sensitive to exhausts and tire screeching so much that I went on a VIP car cruise one time and they called the cops on us. Most drifting I hear of is done on neighbor islands, or late at night, or in the rural parts of the island.

Recently, I haven't seen too many nice 240s. I guess there were some nice ones at the August show. On the street, I'd have to say that there's this chick that drives an S14 that looks pretty sweet. She hangs out with a bunch of other 240s at Ward Starbucks. I'd say that the S14s look a lot better than the S13s, but I think that's the case everywhere. LOL. hatches more common than coupes. I try to shaka all the 240s that I see when I am driving mine. Most ignore me but every now and then I get a nod. :)
