View Full Version : Wheel Spacers don't work on my car? W/Pics

Yet another question. I just got 20mm wheel spacers and after putting them on everything seemed fine, that is until I tried to put my rims back on. It seems that the wheel spacers aren't lining up with the rims and the stock studs are too long for the rims to be flush with the spacer. Here are pics to show what I mean...

Has this ever happened to you guys before? Is there any way to fix this?

Thank in advance for the help.

the other pattern that your wheels have are 4x100, that's why it doesn't line up.

Shorter studs or pocket the back of the wheel. Your call.

I had this issue too.
With a 20mm type spacer, you need to have rims that arent multi pattern.
That way there will be empty pockets between the holes where the tips of those studes will fit.

You can shave your studs down if you want.
Dont let them get to hot though, or you will change their molecular structure or some shit, and weaken them.
Plus, make sure your lugs are sunk in, or it wont be worth it.

DO NOT shave the rims.
It will weaken the structure of it and IT WILL BREAK.

Or you can just sell ur rims and get different ones that will work?

this is all true\\

cut them bitches, or buy new wheels that are made to work in that situation, but if ur gonna buy new wheels just buy ones that dont need spacers:D:D

Okay, this is what you should do. Get good quality(like Nismo or ARP) longer studs and put regular sandwich type 20mm spacers, not bolt on type. That's my setup and it's much simpler, easier and safer(not 100% sure though). I used 20mm Ichiba hub centric spacers and they work perfect. No shakes or anything.

um a 20mm sandwich spacer with ginormous studs doesnt sound safer...

25mm bolt-on spacer would've cleared the stock studs, at least on my S14 it did

So, you could always add a 5mm sandwich-type spacer between your hub and the 20mm bolt-on spacer, then your stock studs would clear. Or change your 20mm for 25mm's.

I wouldnt cut the studs, you will regret it if you switch to lower offset wheels and you want to run a small sandwich spacer but all your studs are too short. That's if you let enough thread to fit the wheel at all.

+1 for 'shortening' your stock studs, a FILE would probably be the most inexpensive way, althought it would be the most labor intensive. ive also HEARD you can just flip the studs, but this could be incorrect & i have no experience w/ that method.

but as previously stated, the pcd of your rims is incorrect so youll either have to source new wheels or 4x114.3 to 4x100 adapters

Get a 25MM spacer or just cut them stock studs down.

I have 15MM spacers on mine and shaved down the stock studs.

Works great

I'm a religious person who strongly believes in god, but I laughed more than once when reading that lol.

I didn't. This is a serious question. Is it really worth $100 that I don't have to buy new spacers with hubcentric rings? I'm not going to be drifting much at all.

Get a 25MM spacer or just cut them stock studs down.

First of all, awesome name. Secondly, will 25mm fit where I won't have to shave the stock studs down? Maybe I could put the 20's on the front and shave those, then just keep the rears regular with 25mm hmmm...

add 5mm spacer.

Ergh just cut them come on.... I had to do this with my 15mm Kics...

Get a cut off wheel on a hand grinder, measure and cut... its not a big deal...

you guys are idiots.

why are you talking about "filing the studs" and getting bigger spacers

get a 5mm slip on spacer, put it between the bolt on spacer and the rotor

boom your done

dont file your stock studs down 5mm....thats so retarded

thats bigger than 5mm
Looks like more than half a lug nut worth of threads are sticking out.
And if those spacers made his rims flusu, then an extra 5mm may start messin shit up.

slip on spacers and extended studs is all you need. why do you need spacers. you running 20mm spacers on your 15X7 wheels and want to look cool? lol
