Chances are if you are close to my age these phrases are embedded in your brain from arguably the best basketball video game ever made, NBA Jam.

Well it's back! And the original creator is at the helm. Big head mode is even back. Now if they would just put Jordon in there as a playable character! If you used to play this game at the arcades you probably remember all the rumors and myths that there was a code to unlock him. It was never true though. :(

It's a Wii exclusive which makes me really happy I own one. There's no release date yet but it's set for some time this year. This shit is gonna be fun. Can't wait.

Back in the day I always used the Sonics with Schrempf and Payton or the Nuggets because Mutombo was a beast.

BOOOOOOM-SHAKA-LAKA! EA ANNOUNCES NBA JAM
New Take on Classic Game to Appear on the Wii in 2010
GUILDFORD, UK,. – 11th Jan, 2010 – Electronic Arts Inc. (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that EA SPORTS™ is developing one of the most popular and culturally influential arcade basketball games ever made -- NBA JAM -- for the Nintendo Wii™. EA SPORTS NBA JAM revives the classic franchise with vintage NBA JAM gameplay, and all-new features that deliver a fresh new take on the game. Featuring the sights and sounds that fans of the franchise will instantly recognize, EA SPORTS NBA JAM mixes the old school with the new, to deliver a one-of-a-kind sports presentation on the Wii.

“NBA JAM is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history,” said Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise.”

Featuring gameplay that is true to the original, NBA JAM will have players spinning with ankle breaking moves to the basket and on the way to high-flying, backboard-smashing dunks. In addition to the classic experience, EA SPORTS NBA JAM will also introduce new game modes, characters and gameplay depth.

NBA JAM brought an all-new visual style to the sports videogame genre when it debuted in 1993. Now, the new EA SPORTS NBA JAM re-defines the visuals for a sports game yet again by bringing true-to-life body types, updated physics, and visible player emotion to the over- the - top experience.

EA SPORTS NBA JAM is currently in development at EA Canada in Vancouver, BC and will be available for the Nintendo Wii videogame system in 2010. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI.

For more information, visit www.nba-jam.easports.com, or join the EA SPORTS NBA JAM Facebook group at: www.facebook.com/NBAJAM/

How to announce a game:
-Short press release telling how awesome the game is.
-No gameplay footage or trailer.
-Official Website link that only 'show' 404 Not Found

The first thing that came to mind was that the graphics look terrible...then I read that it's for the Wii so it makes sense...It doesn't even mention online in press release http://www.neogaf.com/forum/images/smilies/laugh.gif God I hope it turns out okay...

Games are announced like that ALL THE TIME. I can list dozens right now that were announced like that.

That article was a month ago. And who gives a shit about graphics as long as it plays well. The one thing that this generation has proved with the Wii, and 360's arcade, and PS3's DL games is that graphics aren't as important as they used to be. You can still have a great game and the graphics not be cutting edge.

I wonder how old you are too...

I played the original in the arcade (as well as a ton when it dropped on the Sega Genesis) so I REALLY hope it comes out well. Ive got a ton of PSN and PSone games on my PS3 and Live games on my X360. I'm not a graphics whore, but those screenshots don't look to hot (Looks a lot better then NBA 2K10 HAHA).

Logo gives me hope, as does the three players from each team (as long as on-court gameplay is two-on-two). Oh and Bill Clinton and Jazzy Jeff playable or bust!!!

You can thank Electronic Arts (and the big N for cutting the cheque) to make it a Wii exclusive...

The best thing in this game too me was getting the dunk icon and doing a slam dunk from all the way across the court and your doing flips and on fire, shit was the best. I always played with the seatle super sonics.

I put my index on one button and the middle finger on the 2nd.
If its genesis, i can put the ring finger on the 3rd button.
