Hey guys,

Having a weird ignition lock problem on my s14 where my key doesn't want to come out unless I play with it for a good 3-5 minutes.
The car was previously an auto, now m/t.

Can I remove the 'key interlock cable' and fix my issue?

I have been searching and found some old threads on a similar issue. Someone said "remove the lock module inside the column take off the housing remove the white box and you wont have any more issues".

Is the "white box" the same as the key interlock cable in that pic?

Thanks!! Edit: I messed up the damn title lol

Edit 2: One more thing: The weird thing is that the key refuses to turn all the way to final position, it gets stops just before that and won't go any further down. I can go up and start the car if i want, its just I can't go all the way down and pull the key out.

Use your brain. the ignition lock is the same for both manual and auto cars. the manual does not lock. so obviously unpluggin interlock cable will work. and no it is not the white box. it is something that plugs in. geesh.

The cable locks out the shifter unless the key is in the ignition. Removing it won't solve your issue, but it should be removed anyway since it no longer serves any purpose.
