2010 Convention Track Day

This is to find out what kind of driving the MAJORITY want to be participating in on the track event at the National convention.


We are looking at having 2 tracks running, one drift and one grip (for the out of towners to still have fun, but not worry about wrecking their car). But in the event that this is not a possibility, we need to know what is PREFFERED....:snoop:

Also it doesn't HAVE to be at a REAL racetrack. Having a two-course (drift and grip) autocross day would likely cut costs a LOT and would still be a ton of fun. I would prefer a real racetrack, but money is money and I would still at least want to attend an autocross day. I'm getting pretty pessimistic that I will ever have money again and also that I will ever be done fabricating on my chasis.

i will vote grip , reason being , i think that drift by the time one car gets out there to see him spin out 25 times and not really ocomplish anything, in a grip session the crowd can be entertained with a car going fast or various cars simultaneasly battling for a posicion

Seriously, If you have no interest in particapating then don't vote. Just because someone may not have the opportunity to attend for whatever reason doesn't mean that they don't count. If you don't want to go at all though and decided to vote for either option simply because you wanted it to win then you suck.

Well.. I don't mind the majority voting drifting, but I'm going to be pissed if I don't see 41 drifters participating. Unnecessary voting will cause problems for organizers.

For those who don't understand why: Supposing 55 people vote drifting and 45 vote grip. If organizers set up a drifting event and only 20 people actually participate when there could be 30 grip participants ready to go, that could be $1000-$2000 wasted. I'll be pissed for Lisa and all other supporters/promoters if the track rental cost is not covered. I find it incredibly discouraging for them and others who put in the effort and take the risk of setting up such a costly event.

I am sure Lisa and her team will not make decisions based on this.

You could run both in group ones (since it looks like the poll is VERY close). That is what we used to do for our SRT Trackdays, on horsethief mile usually. We would have the first group of grip line up for their run, have the a pace car go on and then just let them go for a little while I think it was like 15-30 minutes each run. Then while they were running, we had the drift group line up and started them after grip session was done.

Eventually it would come to a point where it didn't matter which group you were in, and could do whichever you want.

I'd say horsethief mile for drift, streets of willow for grip if you don't combine them. Grip is fun, but drift would make things really interesting. We could get to see who is down and who is a pussy.

I would rather watch drifting, I think thats a given for most ppl. But if im driving 1300 miles i need my tries and my car in good working condition. And not having to buy tires would be nice. Either or both is great!

I voted for gripfting. Id just be happy to have my car somewhat done by then. So I'm pretty sure it won't be drift ready so I thinks grip is safer for the cars. But I can't promise that if I participate I won't slide a lil. Lol :P
