Well, since i bought my car the cruise hasn't worked. I push the dash button, the green orb turns on, i put "set acc" on my steering wheel and the green "cruise" light lights up on my cluster. but when i let off the gas my car refuses to cruse.

When i push on the clutch or brake while the cruise light on my cluster is on, it turns off, so i know that my clutch and brake cruise kill switches work. I just took a look at the actuator and the vaccum tube going to it was pretty gnar on the end so it came off easily so i cut the gnar stuff off and went to test again. still didn't work.

I looked at the FSM and tried to read the wiring schmatic to the best of my abilty and i think the problem may lie between the ascd control unit and the actuator? but im not sure how to check this in further detail

anyway i can troubleshoot this further? could it be the ascd control unit under the dash? do you have to remove the dash to get to that unit?

help is much appreciated.

Best option is to find a dealer, make friends, and use the CONSULT tool, it can run a full diagnostic on the ASCD system. If not, pull the control unit and start testing inputs/outputs as demonstrated in the FSM. You will need to drop the glovebox and remove the blower motor housing to access the it.

well, i think i can maybe rule out the ascd control unit. today i tried again i tried to listen closely to hear anything, and i hear a relay click on whenever i pushed the acc button and it would click again whenever i hit the cancel button. but i did notice another wierd thing. i was idling at a drive through and i noticed my car would rev up slightly, then i different relay would click on the driver side and then the idle would go down again, then go back up, then the relay would click once more. idk if this is related or not but the clicking relay seems to click all the fucking time now that i've noticed it.

just to follow up on this,

i got my cruise to work. i took the "Cruise Cont/Off" button apart to replace the bulb in it and put it back together (not knowing i did it right as this requires the knowledge to know where the 2 random ass ball bearings go) and on my way down the high way i got bored and flipped it on thinking it wasnt working, so i keep my foot on the gas then i took it off for a sec and my car was accelerating itself! lol

anyways, if anyone is having similar symptoms to what i listed above, check your switch out, take it apart and put it back together if you have to, seeing how you have nothing to lose anyway since your cruise already does not work.
