that is not Kanji.
that is Hanji, or the Chinese language.
It doesn't mean child.
Child is only part of it of the symbol on the lower left hand side.
The right hand side is woman, albeit incorrectly written.
The quality of calligraphy is not all that great.

right hand side isnt woman, it means nothing on its own i think
but yea that tattoo means teach
teach/teaching
religion but missing the other part
triad but missing the other part
faith = 信念
the scaling is all wrong for the characters.
it is just one character = 教
Hanzi is chinese

My Chinese is getting rusty.
I think a lot of ppl get confused.
often a single character can be broken down to several others.
At first I thought it meant old woman.
maybe it was a milf appreciation thing.
that, or 'good-for-nothing' Mao Tze Tung's version of bullshit simplified Chinese.
