Itunes Album help, this is driving me absolutely insane..im new to the whole ipod thing etc…so please bear with me. Got an Ipod Nano for Christmas….so I DL’d Itunes, and started importing music from my Windows Media.

So the problem that im having is that some of the albums are not “compiling” as in when I look at it on the Ipod, I will have 6 or so different Albums. When in fact it is 1 album.
I have tried to highlight all songs in the album and right click>get info>options and check the “part of compilation” and it has worked for a few albums but now its just not working anymore.
Ideas??
TIA!

umm.. im no technological genius... so im sure theres a beter way... but you could do it indivigually. just right click and get info and type it in yourself. ive had to do it for a few albums... idk though

Highlight all the songs in the album, right click, get info and add ALBUM ARTIST name in the field that it is so marked, that will bring them down into one folder.
120GB later, I hated iTunes with every fiber of my moral being, and I have not yet installed it on my new computer, looking for an alternative.

I myself hate itunes as well.

It also helps to put them "in a compilation" and actually put sont "5 of 12" and so on.
It takes forever, but at least they play in the right order.

I Tunes sucks.

I just pay for all my songs off of iTunes. That way everything is nice and sorted without the headaches. Yeah I'm a baller like that

I've only used Winamp for playing my music, and I still haven't added even that to the new computer.
Now that it is mentioned and I am snowed in, I may spend today looking for an alternative to iTunes.

have any of you tried winamp?

I still constantly use Winamp. Syncs with my ipod video flawlessly, low resources, amazing and snappy. No bloating at all.

Long live WINAMP!

personally I'm not huge fan of Winamp.
It's not as despicable as i-tunes.
I'm just not a fan of the interface.
I prefer Foobar2000 for playing music.
Songbird works ok as an alternative to i-tunes.

Honestly I think the i-pod is kinda of an over-rated mp3 device.
It's expensive for what it is,
has no room for expandibility,
& the 'features' it has focuses on shit that's irrelevant to the music listening experience.

Recently I bought an 8gig Sansa Fuze Mp3 Player for less than $100.
The thing has really all the basics you need & little else.
Unlike the i-pod, you have a basic 6 or so-band EQ.
You don't need to use any specified software.
You just drag and click mp3 files.
It supports FLAC format music files.
It has a flash memory slot, so you can expand a little more space.
Sound quality is more or less the same as the i-pod if not better.

Im sure there are a lot of other great mp3 players out there.
I've heard good things about Sony & Cowon units.

Needless to say, I felt a bit ripped off getting a 16gig nano for $180-ish.
I've had it with pretty much all Apple products.
It's just not for me.

I have songbird at the suggestion of LifeHacker, but have not yet fully finished fixing my iTunes-fucked libraries (160+GB) yet, and have not yet plugged in the iPod.
I wouldn't have mine if I hadn't gotten my friend's 4gb nano for 20 bucks.

ronmcdon... what makes ipod stand out, is it accessories. like the alpine decks

if you care for the fancy features, it is indeed nice.
it just doesn't offer the specific features that appeal to me.

i care nothing else but to listen to music, price point, & memory space.
simplicity & reliability are also my priorities.

Perhaps I was too harsh to say the i-pod isn't all that great.
I do know however that it's not something that works out for me.
I've owned 2 nanos, & 1 classic (which I damaged unintentionally out of frustration).
The music player/i-pod fuction on my i-phone is convenient though.

lol, I also happen to have an alpine 9887 head unit that I use in conjuntion w/ my i-devices.
Can't say I'm a fan of that either.
Some of the oem integrated sound units made to work with the i-pod are nice though.
(such as the non i-drive bmw's)

You just summed up almost every apple device !!!!

keep us posted on that songbird Phlip.
I am looking for something different.
Itunes was great when it came out, and then they are so arrogant they havent changed shit to keep it cutting edge and more user friendly.

They are probably done soon.
I bought a 2GB mickey head MP3 player from ebay for $15 shipping, lol.
You just drag and drop files, it plays like a shuffle.

I still use the ipod in the car cause the radio hook up.
But they just need to start making usb outs for car stereos.

oh yeah.
My Itunes will randomly decide to look for music in the default location, and i have to go back in and reset it to pull from the hard drive.

got this yesterday,

I never used iTunes, but if your looking for a good ID3 tag editor use MP3Tag. It is lightweight, bloat-free, and super powerful. I can edit tags for 100s of MP3s with a few steps.

The tag editor is not a problem, I been using Winamp since I have been on the internet regularly, so I know how and where to do that quickly... The ONLY reason I HAD to have iTunes was to sync an iPod I had happened upon for 20 bucks from a friend who had gotten an iPod touch and therefore no reason for the nano anymore.
If I could easily sync this thing without iTunes fucking up my library everytime I add an album to it, I would would do it in a heartbeat. For that, I am hoping Songbird works.

Itunes used to randomly erase my library, but honestly other than freezing up every once and a while itunes has no problems on my end.
