You've got to be kidding me. No competition.

SR - if you lose, you dont deserve an SR.
KA - I assume its a manual, so you should have an advantage since you are "an excellent driver to boot".

Hyundais have pathetic engines. Most Koreans don't even buy these cars.

2003 Hyundai Tiburon, about 3000lbs
2.0L I4 134hp 132lbs-ft torque
2.7L V6 170hp 181 lbs-ft torque

2 buddies...one with a 97 FX

one with a 2003 GSR V6

Those are 170 very athletic horsepower if you ask me. Good thing their "patheitc" engines have one of the best warranties you can get too.

even the FX is pretty quick, we are neck and neck between a set of lights

I have gained a lot of respect for huyndai, they are starting to build a really decent car.

well the thread said STOCK for a reason, im not involving the sr, that would be a waste of time, she has the v6 model, i guess ill just have to try her out and see wha happens

v6 AWD? there are many versions. i also agree about hyundai not producing top of the line cars, but watch out you never know. it's not going to take on your sr, but your ka all i can say is good luck :) ;) :boink: :wtc:

I have what I would call a slow KA.. I've been door to door through 3rd with a Manual V6 Tibby. I'm fairly certain, a manual 240 would kill an auto tibby. Even the manuals are high 15 second cars.

2.7 litres and not even 200 hp?

hyundai sucks. isnt the tiburon supposed to be a sports car?

Well if you want to get technical about it, SR is a stock S14 engine, just not in USDM form. And for the sake of discussion, if you wanted to talk about stock KA's, mentioning the SR was just irrelevant. It's like me saying I want to race a SpecV and saying i have a 240 and a S500. :-/ Anyways, I get what youre saying, etc. It's all good.

Although Hyundai's engines are pretty pathetic compared to its competition, I am overall impressed with Hyundai's progress over the years. But ya gotta admit, pretty much the only thing its selling now is the warranty, customer service, and low sticker price. Car quality? Dunno...

A 5-spd KA 240 against a auto Tiburon V6 should be interesting. Can't say for sure who'd win because anything can happen. But with the given info, I have my predictions...Good luck! ;)

no, and I dont want to, its FWD and has 170 hp.

I was commenting on hyundais poor engineering that for their sportscar style car they only got 170 hp out of 2.7 litres.
