Yep...I have info that a friend of mine is about to start construction of a drift track in the Orlando area. He is a property owner in Port Charlotte, Fort Myers, and Orlando and has a great budget to work with. This guy is a speed (as in racing) addict and is one of the best engine builders I have ever known. Glad Jr. has been asked to come work for him. Sounds like it might get big! I'll keep y'all posted.

Are you for real?!?!?!?! Keep us posted. Right now the only thing to do in the Orlando area is the Orlando Speedway, for test and tune night. As far as I know anyway.....
Do you have any other details? completion date?

Dude, do you know if he plans on it being flat or having some negative curve surfaces to work with?

Killer if he lays it out with a flat acerage, then a trick area for experienced drivers like some banks, some inverted turns and some trick ripples to start the skate for those who want to experiment with it.

Look, I have some great ideas and I am mathamatically inclined so controlled speed tricks could be performed and studied.

We are not talking about jumping cars or exciting them into a flip stage, I am talking about adverse drift conditions, water spray, etc. A testing area if you will as well as an acerage drift area exclusively.

This IS an oppurtunity for him to break the mold and really do it right. An obsticle course for cars that are designed safe for advanced drifters than want to hone their driving skills.

If you look at the detroit proving grounds or some of the stuff that they have in aberdeen to test military vehicles, you know, that kind of thing. OF course he could also have a mud pit for 4wd folks and other nice goodies.

Also, ideally, look into what goodyear has for proving grounds to get my idea. I drove for them one summer professionally for the hell of it to do some tire testing. it was killer what all goes on. (I own BF Goodrich tires...not pepsi or coke, RC cola)

PM me for more ideas if you think he would listen to an old man (44)

Dude...YOU are a YOUNG man! :D

The latest skinny is....
He has secured about 10 acres between Orlando and Tampa. It is just off Route 4 and he returns to the area in about a month. Construction will begin almost immediately. Glad Jr. is scheduled to move there in about 6 months or so to work for him. He will have a tuning shop and a pitt area for people to work on their own cars as well. This could blossom into something big. He did some demographic studies and this area is really ripe for this kind of stuff.

more to follow...

This is great news. I am only 2.5 hrs away and ....well I am excited to see it. He must have some diversity for the other type sporting events as to be able to stay in business should drifting fade out (it won't)...like the mud pit, standard autocross, a skateboard area, some banked loops for carts...that kind of thinking will insure a good time for all! I know he realises he could also build a bunch of houses on that property and make a ton of money...but he has a big heart to provide an area for us to use.

He owns several houses already...that is how he can afford to do this. I have never known anyone as addicted to speed as this guy. He also is one of the best mechanics I have ever known. The guy can take a bumper car and make it in to a 10 second car. He has really done his research and I honestly thoink this is gonna be a good thing for all. (he and Jr are alos skaters...a skate park isn't out of the question...Jr could be pro as a skater)
