Ok not sure if this is in the right spot so if not, I apologize...mods please move accordingly.

So I've been looking for a 240 for a little while now. It will probably end up getting an SR20 and a kouki conversion somewhere down the line. But so far I've narrowed it to these 2...I want your guys' opinion to help me decide. This will be my first 240SX let alone my first Nissan. I know, I know...:newbie:

Still waiting on picts of the interior of #2.

#1 - 1995 240SX - PRICE: $3200

Up for sale is my 1995 Nissan 240sx 5-speed. Not too common to come across these especially 5-speed and all stock . . The color is a unique mustard yellowish color which looks really nice when washed. It has a clean title and runs great with no mechanical issues. Has many options like power windows, tilt wheel, cruise, power steering, ac (needs to be fixed), power mirrors, rear disk, tachometer and more. The car doesn't have any major problems but does have a check engine light because a few wires on the harness came loose somewhere. The clutch is almost new and grabs great. The transmission has no grinds. The engine is very powerful. The mileage is a little more then shown on the odometer because it wasn't working for a while but i recently got it fixed so the miles are rolling normal now. The interior is mint condition and looks almost new . . The seats have no tears or stains at all. This would be a very good daily driver for anyone. The trunk sometimes does not open. The hinge needs to be adjusted. It has no oil leaks or anything like that . Title on hand and ready to sell . The car comes with the original radio.

Its kinda hard to decide. The second one was probably beat to shit, considering the crappy mods on it. The first one is completely stock which is really good, but that guy is probably really lying about the mileage. If it were me Id make an offer to buy the first one, but only if he got the CEL fixed. Also, he has to have the car smogged before he can legally sell it, which means he has to fix the CEL.

Well first off, the color is called champagne, on the first one.
I agree with Rabboni, the seller must provide smog check, it's the law.
Being a Non-S.E., the price is just ok. If it were an S.E., it would be great.
I would pay a little more for 5 lug SE. Cuz 4 lug has limited wheel options.
The second car...run! Looks like shit and sounds like it's been abused.
I would suggest keep looking.

Cool...thanks for the input...on the first one if I got it I would do the 5 lug swap...

and Renelovesnike I wish I could find a deal like that, all the decent 240's I've found around the San Diego area are about $4000 and up...unless I got an S13 they are a little cheaper...I really want an S14 though, preferable kouki but either will do. These were just 2 of the cheaper ones I found.

I just copy and pasted the for sale ads... I laughed at the mustard comment too...

Sandman, I would personally pass on both of them...why? They both look like they have been beat to shit. Expand your search out side of good old SD. Look in the IE, OC, LA, ect. I have seen much nicer ones in that same price range.

How old are the owners of these cars? If they are under 25 I would probably also pass on the car....why? Again, probably beat to shit, not maintained and just plain not cared for.

Being patient is a huge help when it comes to finding the "right" car for you. I would suggest buying from an old man, or an old music teacher :keke: (funny as that is where my 95 came from). Just be patient, and know that if it is on craigslist too long, there is probably a reason it is still there. :)

I honestly agree with the rest of these kats. Just wait be patient look around more the right one will come, that's what I did. Both cars seem somewhat shady.

I think I'm gonna pass on these 2. I did find a decent looking '98 SE that looks like it's in good shape for $4800. Might actually go check that one out in person. I really don't want to spend more than $4500 though so maybe they will come down a bit.

Best thing to do is look, look, and look. Don't get in a hurry to buy. Make sure its a good deal and that you're starting with a good car. Those first two didn't seem that great. Be patient and good luck in your search

agree, both cars look suspect
also depends on what you're looking for and your comfort level in wrenching
if you're looking for a project then the first seems to have cleaner body but electrical issues
if you want a reliable daily driver then that will take patience in searching and maybe more money

Hahahahah modern accessories, like a TACHOMETER. Weary of the CEL...sounds sketchy.

The engine is VERY powerful hahahahahahahahaha

Yeah I'm gonna check out that 98 but I'm not in a huge hurry to buy... as for comfort level in wrenching... I do almost all my own work, before I joined the Marine Corps I was a mechanic for a while and I have 2 years of auto tech also. So no problems tearing in there...lol. Would like to have something reliable to start with though.

Keep on looking. I was searching for a daily for a very long while. I found one locally and it so happens a long lost friend of mine owned a 97 S14. He practically gave it to me, but we both knew how much work needed to be done on it. Regardless, be patience and keep looking and that will only make you decide based on solid researching.

Best to you.

:rofl:

I am not sure what mustard that seller has seen, but I am not sure if it was from this decade.

Also funny, because the way he desribes it makes me NOT want to even consider it. Mustard Yellowish haha!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To the O.P.;
I think you made the right decision waiting. A kouki 240sx for 4,800 is not horrible if it is clean.
To be honest, both of the zenki's you posted look pretty worn.
Keep us updated with what you do, hope you find a 240sx to your liking. They are hella fun, you won't regret it!
