View Full Version : How can you tell if a coilover has blown?

I just swapped my coilovers (Parts Shop Max) from my wrecked car over to my new car. I havent driven on them for a while now since November so I dont exactly remember how the ride is supposed to feel. I know for sure the rears are ok. But on the front even on the softest setting it almost feels like when I hit cracks in the road they pop and you feel it throughout the car. I adjusted them to full stiff to see if there was a difference and honestly it feels the same. One of them actually got stuck and now I cant adjust it down to a softer setting.

Whats a good way to figure out if they are blown? :(

Oil leakin from the shock itself, but i had PBM(PSM) coilover on my s13 and the lowest setting was stiff as shit also gonna have to get used to it man, thats how they are, they do sell softer springs at Poweredbymax.net or talk to Dan...

Thats the thing Ive had them for well over a year and I was used to it. It just feels different from what I remember. I def think one of them is damaged though, the adj screw on top is stuck and wont move.

To figure out if they are blown compress the spring to take the tension off the shock and then push the shock down and see if it rebounds by itself. If the shock doesn't come back up by itself then it's blown.
