I'm almost certain a rom tune will cost the same no matter what you want done. If you just wire it up the ecu won't be getting the right signal from the mafs and it will be in limp mode, I.e., won't go over 2500rpm or whatever it is, thus causing a hella rich fuel curve for the 2500rpm it does allow

what's going to happen if I wire in my z32 mafs before I can afford to get a ROM tune? reason I ask is because I already have the n62 mafs and I don't have a stock mafs now.

how much$$$$ will it cost just to tune the ECU for the z32 mafs only and no other upgrades?

well "drift king" the car won't run properly and it will be inoperable(sp?). as far as the rom tune, i dunno, pm each place (i.e. deatschwerks, enthalpy,etc.) and see what they say. just jank a ka24e mafs from the junkyard and use that till you can afford the rom tune. another option is to wire a piggy back (safc etc.) and set it for a z32 mafs.

OR what alot of people do is get a SAFC. this will not require a ROM tune but use of the SAFC requires some form of intelligence.

Z32 Maf with no rom tune or any signal correction will make you drift up parking garages like the car is on rails.

A z32 maf will gain you nothing... I know it looks like a bigger tube should make more power - Bzzzzt wrong. A z32 maf is only for when you maxed out the stock maf (which isnt possible since your injectors are stock)

until you get a bigger turbo and more fuel - i recommend keeping the stock maf - since a z32 offers you nothing.

The z32 isnt an upgrade because of its diameter - its the voltage scaling for the airflow. A N60 maxima/rb maf is the same physical part as a z32 but its scaled to max out 5.12 volts around 300-350 hp. The z32 is scaled to flow enough air for nearly 600hp on the same maf housing - but with a more widespread voltage scale - it loses resolution.

What this means - is that you should use the lowest maf to support your power so that you retain good resolution.

A sohc 240sx maf will work perfectly fine - its the same as a sr maf you'll just need to swap the plug - the colors match up.
