So my s14 obII is showing a code for a speed sensor (14) and i have no clue why.I replaced the Sensor thinking its bad or whatever and reset the ecu and it pops up again:bash: I reset it a couple more times and no luck. The car has never been swapped before its a original Tranny. The Speedometer works and all that. This wouldn't be a big issue but i need to pass smog this month!Any help would be great im completely stumped on why its still showing a code.

i got that code on my s13 when my new ecu would not plug in right. are you sure you have the right speed sensor. otherwise, you have faulty harness/connection, speedometer , ecu

About 14-20 miles or so sometimes less.

On S14s, the speed sensor signal goes to the gauge cluster first, and then from the gauge cluster to the ECU. Check for problem between the cluster and the ECU. At the ECU it's pin 26 (yellow/green wire).

I did that,The Smog tech told me the computer needs to get readings or something and told me to drive around for a bit.So i just left since i knew the CEL would pop up.Btw what year was your car?

They're called "Readiness Monitors".

They're in every OBD2 ECU to make sure you don't just reset the ECU and come in for a SMOG. The ECU runs diagnostics on several systems (including front and rear oxygen sensors, EVAP, EGR) and sets each monitor to "Ready" when it passes the diagnostic. In Cali, you can have no more than two of them "Not Ready" at the time of the test.

blueshark's Maxima might be OBDI, though.
