OK, so I guess cops are cracking down on exhausts in my area, because on my way home from work (still in uniform)I got pulled over for apparently no reason. The dick tells me that it is my exhaust, and I gave some bull**** excuse like I had a couple of bad exhaust leaks. So he gives me a ticket, and tells me that if I get in touch with him by Wed and have the problem fixed that he will not process it. He then gives me a hard time about my headlights and lets me go. So I went home, changed, and headed back out the same way because I was going over a friends house (of course leaving the ticket at home) Well, a half mile from the place where I originally get pulled, another cop sees my car (I was stopped at a light), and turns around to get behind me and pull me over. same reason, exhaust, and the dick still gives me a ticket even though I informed him I had gotten ticketed for it not 40 minutes earlier. He then informed me that my white parking lights were illegal, and that the only white lights allowed on the car are the headlights and backup lights. I very pollitely explained to him that white parking lights were stock on my car (95), and he flipped his **** on me. Well, to anyone in the northern VA area who is reading this, is there someone who has their old stock exhaust lieing around, so I can swap it on to at leats aliviate myself from having to pay the first ticket. I really do not have the money to be paying for bull**** tickets, and do not have the time to go to court for them. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Edit: does anyone have nissan's part number for the clearence bulbs, I will need that information somewhere down the road. Thanks again

Cracking down? I hope not. I'm glad cops on the east don't care about that "CARB approved" nonsense. I never heard of cops being like this in Nova. Usually the only time they give you a ticket like that in this area is when you get pulled over for something else (kinda like the old seatbelt law went). Then they may pull that card on you. Seems like you're the chosen one. But pretty much all cops around here are :mrmeph:'s. Except the asian ones...No lie, I've gotten off so many things back in the day w/asain cops. Like one time we blocked off this whole road in front of my friends house w/construction barriers and cones. The next day the cop came to my friends place. He took names and was like "Vutipichar?...What's that?" "Thai" my friend said, and he was like "ohhhh I'm Thai too, blah blah blah" and we never heard from the police again. :coolugh:

yeah, cracking down big time up here in Northern VA, my friend (STEE FLO on the forum) got a ticket near gallows rd/rt 29 for his exhaust, and it's not even loud! it just looks loud, that's why they gave him a ticket... i really don't think this would be a problem if there were less ricers, but that's for a different thread... plus, cops don't even know the law, they claim any aftermarket exhaust is illegal, but it's any exhaust that's louder than OEM, that's what VA laws are, so they need to have a Db tester and a list of OEM Db sound levels before they can give a ticket, otherwise they are just guessing it's illegal.

correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the law in va also states that an exhaust must look relatively stock and not completely different. i think i read that somewhere. i'll look it up and get back to you on that.
but dang... i'm afraid to drive up to nova now...

Geeeze, it would have been most cool for about a dozen Harley Davisons to have driven by while he had you stopped. What is their excuse about that? They run UNCAPPED!

I feel ya. I got pulled over a few weeks ago for going 70 in a 55. It was in the middle of nowhere, on a big road, with no other cars, at 6AM. Oh well, it's my fault and I was speeding. He also bitched at about my parking lights and said I was lucky that he wasn't going to write me up for it. I told him that they were stock on this car. He told me to shut up if I knew what was good for me. Asshole.

yeah thats right I got ticketed for my exhaust last month in NoVa. These fairfax cops suck  I know he didnt even hear my exhaust, he just saw it from behind as i sat at a light. Its making me consider swapping exhaust with someone with a more stealth looking one.:coolugh:

Leave the stock muffler on the back and just pull off the pipe in between the cat and the muffler.
yup, i found the link. the exhaust has to be "comparable to that designed for use on the particular vehicle as standard factory equipment". here's the link:

or you could just do what my friends do. get an electric cutoff, so you can have stock muffler look and sound when you're cruising, and no exhaust when you need power or whatever. at the flick of a switch, hehe

Look at this one...Look at this one (http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+46.2-1052)
They should just say, No ricers allowed.
