okay so i un-hooked my top ready to bring it down and when i pressed the button nothing happened, my first thought was a fuse. i checked all the fuses in the car and tested them and they all worked.so i thought maybe it could be one of the plugs behind the back seat where the wiring is at for the pump..and there all good and dandy.so i went crazy and took out the rear seats and rear panels, took of the sides of the carpet and followed the wiring because i thought it could be cut somewhere....nothing, all good.
so what else can it be? i doubt its the pump because it never showed signs of fading or leaks or anything...when i press the button theres no noise, usually ill hear the pump. my guess is that theres no power going to it...any suggestions?
maybe the button?

id say the park safety switch. the one that tells it that the car isnt moving and allows the power to go to the motor. not sure of your cars setup but check that out. is your car 5 speed?

you know what you might be right....the car was auto and was swapped 5 speed.. i noticed when i bought it that there was a lot of wiring going on near the fuse box next to the battery, and wires going straight to the tranny.....FUCK! too much wiring going on there...hhmmm you gave me a new place to look though. ima get on it tomorrow morning..thanks

check the inhibitor wiring. i had mine wired the wrong way and had to fix it.
the top only worked in reverse gear (5spd swap)
inhibitor wiring:
[blue]
[black]
[green]
blue to black to reverse sensor (-) (3-way connection)
green to other side of reverse sensor (+)
blue must connect to black not green.
if blue touches green the top will only work with the trans in reverse.
if green touches black directly the reverse lights stay on.
