i am in the middle of swapping my vert to 5spd and when i got to where i put the manual tranny up to the engine it stops about an inch or half inch from where it needs to be. it doesnt go into the splines at all. i put in a new pilot bearing and did everything correctly, does anybody have any ideas or ways to get it to spline? i jacked the front of the engine up to lower the back but its just not working. i got my helper to put the driveshaft in and turn it so maybe itll turn but no good, also got him to turn the crank from the front pulley and didnt help. i need to get my car running tomorrow so pleaseeeee gimme some ideas.

Did you test fit the pilot bearing before installing. My SR was tight at first, lube, insert shaft and put your back in to it. Now she's like all the other girls, lol.

Good luck. 5 spd vert, that's sick. I did mine with the motor on a cherry picker, what a bitch with it moving, made it easy for the bell-housing bolts, don't forget to put that plate in, like I did. lol
S13 or S14 trans?

what exactly was the problem?
when i swap my old fastback to 5 speed i had this problem. I didn't really notice it at first but on the shaft of the trans was rust and it just wouldn't slide on. I sanded it smooth and she slipped right on

im not sure but i took off the clutch disc and made sure it fit and it took a lot of persuasion to get on. after a couple of slides on and off it was normal and then it worked.
