Hello,
I have a 1991 S13 Fastback with LSD and Hicas. My Hicas light is always on. I read on an Australian Skyline forum about how to test my hicas for problems. On that same post it says that if you have an aftermarket steering wheel that the light will always stay on. I happen to have a Nardi wheel with quick release. BUT, I think there may be more that just that triggering the light. I don't know if anyone here is familiar with the test but I am wondering if it works with a push button starter. I had tried a few years prior when I had a stock setup and it worked but now I have a push button and its not reading when I try to test the system. Does anyone have any ideas? Do you think its the push button? I am following the instructions step by step. I am not sure what the problem is.
Thanks.

resolution, remove the hicas system and install a normal s13 rear end...u loose any need for the hicas light and just take out the bulb...
i would say track down a stock steering wheel (dont know if hicas wheel is diff) and install it...see if that is the issue...and you can pretty much move on with your life since you know its on due to the wheel...

First off, I really don't want to remove the hicas. And second, I know that my car drink power steering fluid as if it was water. I think there is a leak somewhere cause I am constantly having to replace the fluid. I just want to check to make sure its not the hicas system because I am assuming the parts are not cheap. And, I would never put a stock wheel on again, having a quick release it the greatest security feature. I love not have to worry about someone driving off with my car. Thanks for your reply though.

theres no other place for the fluid to flow if its draining fluid...its in 4 places constantly, reservoir>pump>Steering racks>lines. you obviously have a leak...easiest way to check is putting cardboard under the car after its been driven around and place the cardboard were ever there is a P/S part, and ull find ull leak.
and you right there fucking expensive...ur steering rack is even different than normal s13 (steering ratio).
and a QR isnt the greatest security feature, ask one of the members on this site how his wife's steering wheel was stolen from the car and was still able to drive the car!...trust if she could do it...well you get my point...get urself a GPS trackable alarm if you want your car thats well hidden to be safer...

^ if she could do it, im pretty sure a thief intending on steeling ur ride and knowing these cars will...

Yeah that is a scary thought. I live in LB too! I heard if I get a ball bearing QR it is a lot harder to drive without a wheel. And if you lock the wheel before you take it off it is extremely hard to turn it without the wheel, I've tried. I have an alarm system that alerts me when my car moves or even get touched but until I start putting major $$ in my car I will hold off on the GPS feature.
