Im borrowing a working downpipe and o2 sensor so I could clear the cat code and finally pass emissions on my 1997 240sx. Went to checkers and got the codes cleared but the check engine light is still on...

So we check the codes again and everything was erased besides P1605 which comes up as a manufacturers code. After investigating more it turns out this is an Auto Transmission code.

I swapped to a 5 speed a while ago and im not swapping an auto tranny back into my car just to pass emissions for 2 years.

Any ideas as to how I can get around this? Think they will see its just a tranny code and let it slide?

I need this done asap since I have to give the guy his cat back.

Thanks

Yes... Im guessing I need a 97 5 speed ecu.

Would I need some special obdII transmission and sensors as well? All I know is my tranny is from an s14 because of the sensor on the top of the bell housing.

Yeah brother just grab you a 97-98 5-spd ecu and you will be fine. My 96 was doing the same thing until I swapped ecu's, then no more CEL.

Are there any certain OBDII 5 speed tranny sensors or anything that I will need?

You have to wire in your sensors as stated in the write up
here you go S14 Tranny Swap - Electrical Connections (http://www.ka24development.com/cwilfert/S14_tranny_swap_electrical.html)

Im pretty sure I did all those besides the ACSD switch.... never heard of that....

Is that so you have to have your clutch pressed in order to start the car?
Is something that like really going to throw a code? God I hate obdII and emissions

ASCD switch is for the cruise control...so that if you're using the cruise control, and push in the clutch...it kills the CC, and doesn't just bounce off the rev limiter.

...and you don't need one wired to the clutch interlock circuit (push in clutch to start the car)...ECU doesn't look for that.

As it's been mentioned already - A 5-speed ECU form your year S14 will fix your issue.
