I am probably going to be selling my car this year and moving into a M3. I really loved this car and it's been my longest owned (since 2004).
I have done just about everything save uber wheels and the engine.
Some of the mods:
KTS coilovers with much of their arms and parts
whiteline sways
Nismo powerbrace, mounts and exhaust hangers
a 5Zigen Pro Racer 80mm cat back with 3" cat and header
alarm
fully dynamatted interior
1/0 guage wire to the truck with power distribution for future battery relocation
Silvia VLSD
R33 GTST brakes front and rear with working handbrake, 16/15 master cylinder
will have a new OEM clutch this month
Narva lights
JDM Grill
much of the interior parts have been replaced with new Nissan (mats, signal/wiper lever, radio and vent trim, etc)
windshield
new weatherstrips (this month, I have had them for a long time as a backup)
Optima yellow top last year.
17x8 Ford Cobra wheels, tires will probably be new Fuzion ZRi's this month....I was on Goodyear Eagle's prior (currently Asymmetrics with 10k on them begging for replacement).
It's clean, minor accident fixed with all new body parts (new headlights last year because of this)....no frame damage.
Just don't know the right way to go with the sale. I know I am going to eat much of the cost of the mods, but I really don't know what the car is 'worth'.
I have gone and looked at some local sales with swaps but they are rattletraps. I haven't really seen a stocker. Almost all have SR20's or other engines (and aren't pretty).
My car looks great inside and out.
Mileage is 108k, I am the third owner bought this car with 70k. It's an original manual transmission SE not a conversion.
I usually do all my own work and torque EVERYTHING to the specs...I own the FSM for this car along with all the downloads. When I can't do the work it's always been done at the best shops. Ernie Bello has done my alignments each year. He's not cheap, but he is good...many drive down to him. I have my tires put on by a 3rd generation family owned shop. They give a wheel guarantee unlike other tire shops that may scratch custom wheels and not give a crap.
I am selling as I am finally debt free and have always wanted a M3...if I have to sacrifice this car it's going into storage. Maybe I will make it a full-time track car that I don't mind an occasional rub or dent.
Thanks
Å

I'd say 7k-10k depending on how clean it is.

that's higher than I expected are they really selling like that now with the economy and all?
It's clean. Paint is bright, everything works, all nice and tight. If you searched the car you may find all of 3 dings that really are hard to locate.

Stock, they'd go for 5k-8k depending on milage/cleanliness but since you have some ideal modifications that go with the car, so a little bit more. Kouki's are very sought after, especially opposed to S13s.

You should sell it to me for cheap so I can transplant my 500hp SR in it when i come back from Japan.
But for reals tho man, sad to see another person that I remember seeing alot back in the days, (pre-mad dorifto craze times), moving on to something else.
Hopefully who ever buys it, appreciate the body and doesnt turn it into a fucking missile. Fuck all this "I'm gonna buy this car so I can learn to drift" shit. Go learn in an S13 thats dime a fucking dozen...You crash a Kouki S14, baby jesus will cry. There werent a lot of them to begin with.

Well, I bought mine bone stock 1998 for $5500 a couple months ago
black, 5-speed, 142k, paint is good, had to get full paint correction tetail, has some minor dents like as if a branch fell on it
your car is worth more than what you'll ever get dor it because there aren't many buyers right now people are keeping the $$ in the bank.......unless a super sweet deal comes along.
I then spent about 3k in mods already and realized that I could have bought a nicely modded one for 8.5k but at least I know what I put in the car.
To sum it up, if you want to get rid of the car don't expect anyone to shell out what its worth, to get a buyer you will have to cut your losses and sell it for about 6k or less depending on how bad you want to cash in or how bad the buyer wants it. I was looking for mine for 2 months because I wanted an unmolested one but there is a desire for these cars but people dont have the $$.
Hope I made sense

If i were you I would keep it. You have the nicest S chassis available here in the states. with the amount you'd get into debt for an m3 you'd have one ultimate badass 240 that would run circles around said M3. Hell You could probably do an full rb26 swap driveline and all for less than you would pay for the m3. My 2 cents. If you just got out of debt then why get back into it? Unless your uber rich and are going to buy the m3 cash then please ignore my suggestion.

yeh I agree, the thing about these cars since they're rare to begin with then they will just become more and more rare over time as kids crash them and they are left for dead.......sooner or later the value will start to go up, hopefully.

id go with an m3, keep it stock on the motor and it would be more reliable than a 500hp sr/rb engine in it.

It's not structural though. I bought the car with that issue. To fix it isn't that expensive...

I'd be going an E36 M3, 1999. Maybe a 2004 E46, but I doubt it. I like their body but not all the addon electronics...plus their interior is more lexus like than performance oriented. The E36 is very driver oriented. I have my wife's car if I want to travel/get groceries.
I am looking at about $15k tops for a nice low mileage one.
If I upgraded my engine I am looking at about $6-8k to do it right.
Then I'd have even more money into a car that's pretty much going to be locked into a maximum selling price already.
I don't plan on financing the M3, I am doing pretty well; just like cars a bit different than what is around me all the time and I hate car payments.

You should always be able to get what a car is worth...just not what one may have into it. I know I am taking a loss on the mods I have done, but to sell it at basically what you got your 146k mile one at is pushing it a bit.
I am hoping for $7k or so in reality...less than that I will just store it for now.
My plan is to take the sale money for initial mods for the M3 once I buy it.

What do they sell for then?
6-7 k for your car in it's condition, but people will try to hagle cause it's not full of drift parts.
I paid 8300 for my s14 in 08. But the car is not where I saw the value, the parts it had on it were worth about 10-12 grand. So it saved me the headache of purchasing that shit with a stock s14.

Not sure what drift parts I am missing now :)
inner and outer tie rods (z32/SPL), coilovers, whiteline sways, power brace, Okuyama front and Cusco rear strut rods, Cusco Rucas, SPL toe rods, SPL subframe bushings, SPL tension rods, R33 GTST brakes front and rear, etc.
suspension is about done save a 2 way diff.

Right now I am siding with a late e36....I just don't think I'd be happy in a E46 expect for show and straight line stuff.
At that point I may as well get a GTO.

It's clean, minor accident
I may be in the minority but that's an instant turn off.
Almost all have SR20's or other engines (and aren't pretty).
Usually, even the most shitbag SR is worth more than the cleanest KA.

It's nearly impossible to find any 240SX without any incidents. Those that did have been taken to a place like Maaco usually.
The repair to the rail is a couple hundred bucks at most and wouldn't improve the car.
I'd be paying cash for the M3, I'd be paying cash if I put the engine swap in.
I am a slightly older professional that just wanted a 240SX back in 2004 since the Kouki came out when I was in college in 1999 and couldn't afford one then.

I had to sell my s14 for dirt, less than 1/3 of the total investment but you can list it for whatever you want. I'll be looking for one this summer when I get back to the states.

How much did it sell for and what did it look like?
I am not looking at my mods as an investment though. I have a little over $10k into it not counting the car which I have owned since 2004 @70k miles. I have only put on about 30k since then.

this thread is going nowhere... look on the forums for multiple cars with mods like yours to factor pricing. dont ask a general question addressing the many people who think they have expertise in an area suited for individuals unlike themsleves. advice would be to strip your parts, sell at kbb, and sell the extras on here in the classifieds. chances are if your looking for a beemer your not exactly concerned with a few hundred bucks.

your reply was worthless.
I was asking what cars are selling at, not what they are worth. kbb isn't exactly the best indicator on many cars.
It'd more than likely be more than a few hundred bucks, at the same time I need to know what's realistic. Every asshat that hacked a SR20 into a rattle bucket of a ride thinks they can get $10k...you see those same cars listed month after month.
There is also a time concern and stripping the parts (then finding OEM to replace those with) probably would not be worth it unless you have all the time in the world to do that.

it's an s chassis. you'd be lucky to get 5k.
yes, the kouki is "rare" by comparison. but anybody can just throw its face on a shockingly common zenki, and it's the same car.
this isn't a collector model.

id post it at 6-7k and wait for a "willing buyer." theres always someone out there that wants a mint 98 SE 5 speed. i did back in 04 and payed $10,100 for my old pearl white 97 SE 5 speed in near mint condition with 67k miles.

I don't know about FL, but that car could easily go for atleast $6k in CA. Don't listen to all these naysayers. They just like to talk big and bad because it's the internet and it's Zilvia. I'd easily offer $5k to buy that car, but I'm out of the country.

like this w/ s14 sr, some suspension etc. but minus wheels/skirts for 3800, yours is definately worth more though.

Whats up with s13 guys always bashing s14s?
The s14 Kouki is a rare car that was made for 2 years and if you own a 98 its even rarer.
The zenki seems to be a dime a dozen......I guess people don't really care to themselves if they're driving the good rare car or the common.
SMH at common folks.
5k for a normal 98 6k if is really clean.
