hey i was wondering if anyone had any input on this at all. i got my swap and the kid had it setup so the z32 maf was hooked in the intercooler piping on the cold side just after the intercooler. first off it was wired backwards for an sr so it was running rough when plugged in. unplugged it idled smooth but obviously wouldnt rev over like 3k. so after wiring it up correctly the car still runs rough but he said the safc2 was tuned to adapt to the z32 maf. i have the safc2 hooked up and i have an Aem wideband also and the car idles pinned at 10 on the wideband which means its running real rich. so my questions are would the maf being there and not hooked on the intake affect how it runs? and can anyone shoot me some tips on leaning out mix. i have the booklet for the safc2 but am a little cautious to mess with it obviously because i have no experience with it. any input is appreciated and thanks for reading.

safc setting for Z32 MAF are as follows
S13 SR20 (red or blk)
4 Cylinder, Throttle Facing up right (/),
Hot Wire
2in 6Out.
For S14/15 SR20
4 Cylinder, Throttle Facing up Right
Hot Wire
2in 5Out
and about putting the MAF in the inter cooler piping, after much research i've come to the conclusion that its dumb to do that. The Air Flow meter, measure the Mass and Volume of air going into the engine, with a Hot Wire, (measures how much voltage it needs to apply to keep it at a certain temperature) and has a scale of how much air flow per volt. they also have ambient air temperature sensors built in. by putting the sensor in a pressurized pipe you are changing the way it reads the air. people do that to be able to vent to atmosphere which IMO it's dumb and shooting themselves in the Leg,
Proper way to do it is, Putting it 18" away from the Turbo, and Recirculating your Blowoff Valve back into the Intake. I'll let steve shadows or Shagspeed chime in and get more technical with it.

thats a ton for the settings for the safc. yeah i figured it was to run a non recirculated BOV so it wouldnt read air that hasnt actually reached the motor. tomorrow im going to move it back to the intake and see what the settings are and see how it goes from there. appreciate the help

update. i went it the safc settings and everything was already set up for a z32 maf just like the kid said it was. and after wiring up the maf the right way the car at least stays alive and doesnt stall anymore but after i rev it up a little the car jumps to lean for a quick second as if its going to die. does anyone have some good tips on how to alter the a/f ratio without screwing anything up. i have a manual and everything just i dont want to mess with it where i dont have to. or can anyone share their settings with a similar setup?
s14 sr20det
z32 maf
fmic
3" turbo back exhaust
basically a completely stock motor just aftermarket things for added reliability (rocker arm stoppers, arp head studs, metal headgasket, acl race bearings) but nothing that would throw off a tune.
oh and i put the maf on the intake like it should be but it didnt seem to make much of a difference at all.
