okay, im planning to get my sr20 in august. yet right now, i want a remote starter. would it be possible for me to just buy my turbo timer now and use it on my KA for the mean time? would it still act as a remote starter and shut off by itself and start up with my command? im sorry if this is a dumb question, but i really dont know a whole lot on turbo timers.

thanks

yes it's fine to go ahead and install it... what turbo timer have you seen with a remote start option though? (just curious) My remote start and TT aree built into my alarm (compustar) you should check out something like that too.

yeh i think the one i saw was alarm/turbo timer. is there anyway to hook it up w/o getting the alarm part? say the greddy or HKS TT?

That's how mine is setup.
I have an HKS Type1 TT and a Crimestopper 2008 pager alarm with TT. The obvious advantage of having the TT separate, is all the extra bells and whistles (like my digital speedo tells me the EXACT speed I'm going, unlike the stock analog speedo that lies to you once you get over 50mph). The advantage of using the alarm's TT isn't as obvious, but MUCH more convenient.

With my car, the alarm won't arm if the car is running, so as things are, I have to wait for it to turn off before I can arm the alarm... that's as long as a 5-10min wait if I've been running the car really hard. It doesn't sound like much, but it IS annoying. If you use the alarm's TT, you can set it (at least on mine) to arm the alarm as soon as the TT is done counting down.

Food for thought, hope it helps.

My alarm arms while the car is running so I dont have to worry about it. yes you can have just a TT. I dunno about if its part of the alarm.. youcan have it and not use the alarm I guess... but that seems rather pointless to me... just grab a regular TT then. you wont have remote start but you wont waste money either. heck I've got an Apex'i TT sitting in my room I never hooked up because I got the alarm with it built in :)

so i guess regardless, i have to buy a remote starter unit. i know on ebay there's on for manual transmission.

i think the concept of that unit is just like a turbo timer's. Anyone have any idea about these units?
