disconnecting EGR: will throw code for sure?

just wondering if disconnecting it will throw a code... i did a search but most answers were assumptions and i need to know for sure

so basicly did anyone try disconnecting it and not getting a code and not failing emissions? I would think that it won't affect emissions as long as the check engine light isn't on (which fails u automatically)

anyone with firsthand experience? Thanx. My car is a 97 btw.

Disconnecting EGR will increase your NOx emissions by quite a bit.

an inoperative EGR valve will throw a code. I'm not sure what happens if you disconnect the connector that goes to the control solenoid. Try it and see. Worst comes to worst, figure out some **** and make a jumper for it.

umm the point is that the egr is coming out at a wrong angle to my downpipe... as in they don't meet anywhere near...

so i basicly have 2 ways a) plug it closed (easy way) or b) take it off, which i don't think will be easy cuz the connection of the pipe to the valve is rusty, and cut up so it comes to the dp, in which i have to drill a hole and weld a nut as a bung to screw the egr in (the hard way...)

but i guess hard way it'll be :( which sux but what can u do
