been playing Quake Live a lot lately, and my stupid Logitech wireless isn't cutting it anymore. dug out my old Razer Diamondback (in sikkkk l33t chameleon paint), but it's worse for wear. what's good now? has wireless come far enough that wireless gaming mice are acceptable? also, i'm left handed, so i don't even know if i should bother asking, because i'm just going to wind up using whatever the newest Razer is, because they're the only ambidextrous gaming mouse company.

i have a razer lachesis and love it, on the fly adjustments are awesome, and I think its universal in terms of left and right handed

you can store 5 profiles and change those on the fly as well as mouse speed on the fly

yeah on the fly sensitivity is awesome for switching from running and gunning to sniping with the railgun.
when i bought this mouse, it had the on-the-fly software, and my buddy bought a Logitech, and it didn't have it.. surely by now all mice include something similar though, right?

Gaming mice has alot to do with personal preference, what kind of bells and whistles are you looking for?

Personally I use a Razer Copperhead (still). Even at this point I guess its about 4 years old. I prefer corded mice over wireless (again just a preference). The Copperhead has 4 different DPI settings that can be changed on the fly, all of which can be reprogrammed to your needs. It also has one of my favorite features, on board memory. I can take the mouse to my buddies house, plug it in on his computer and all of my presets are still saved in the mouse. I also like it because it has quite a few buttons but not too many, seven total. Nowadays NIB they are like $50, which is a damn good price for a casual gaming mouse.

i have this one i paid like $10 for. its a 5 button dynex mouse that was actually my favorite mouse. it was great for gaming because of all the damn buttons.

i have a boomslang from '99 somewhere, and when i packed it up in '04ish it still worked. replaced it with this Diamondback, it's been in storage for a year but it's had about four years of service with no issues, it's just kind of ratty looking

so you're the first. lol friends have keyboards, mice, headsets all from them and they've died within the first 6months. I guess it all depends on how well you take care of your peripherals but meh I still will never buy from them.

As for Razor products, I'm not a huge fan. My friend has their keyboard and after a few months a few of the keys need to be pressed noticeably harder so that it registers that it has actually been pressed. The mice that they have are meh.

For me, it's the exact opposite.
I used to have the G5, then moved over to the Razer mice.
Logitec gaming mice are just too large, bulky, & heavy for my hand.
It's fatigue inducing imo.

Razers are perfect.
I have smaller hands, so maybe that explains it.

Like you said, it depends on the right fit for your preferences.

Thing I don't care for Razer mice are that (I get the impression) they are more delicate.
I slam my mouse on occasion when frustrated with gaming.
The logitecs, I might have to replace once a year.
The razers, maybe 2-4 times a year.
I've gone through about 6 razers, but still they feel the best.

But I guess to add on what I use, I have the Ion Technologies mouse and keyboard. It sucks don't get it, I paid $90 when it first came out, the lighting in the mouse went dull after like two days of use, and the lighting behind the keyboard also went dull same time and makes noise when lit. A lot of noise.

I like the Razor mice, but they don't fit my hand and I don't find them comfortable. My current gaming mouse is a Logitech G5 with the adjustable weight pack. Been my favorite mouse so far.

I have a Razer Lachesis as well, and I love it... So much, in fact that I bought a new one when the first crapped out.

Whoever said Razers are POS's is totally right, I wish I didn't love it so much... It's well balanced, is as sensitive as I need it to be, and I don't accidentally click buttons like I typically do with my other mice I've tried.

If/when this one craps out, I'll pick up the Logitech, though... I've been nothing but happy with the G15 I bought several years ago... Shit's legit!

I'm still rocking my logitech mx518, and I have been for a couple of years now. It's gotten it's share of slams, but still works like a charm. Thinking of upgrading soon though. Maybe, one of the newer logitechs. Hearing of how razers break so often, makes me not want to get their products.

I used to love the Logitech Mice. Friend got a Razer and I loved the ramping and sensitivity.

I thought they were just hype. But it stays cleaner then the logitech(dead skin) and it looks brand new still. Don't think I will buy another logitech mouse after the wireless debacle I had with one.

Gamer's will always recommend either a Logitech or Razor...

I currently have a microsoft sidewinder and G5, my brother is using a Razor.

I wouldn't recommend the sidewinder its rather big and bulky for my taste and I can palm a basketball. The G5 feels better, Razor mice usually have lower profiles.

Depends on the grip you use and comfortable with... the bigger mouses (logitechs) are usually more suited for people that "palm" their mouse. The Razor's are more suited for the "claw" grip heh. Best bet is to head to a store that carries both and try them out you can't go wrong with either the Logitech gaming mice or the razors.

I think that's overkill for most fps games. Much better suited for rpg games, with the amount of buttons it has.

I've used several "real" gaming mice, this mouse is my favorite. I'm on my second of these mice and I have no intentions of buying a different kind anytime soon. It fits perfect, glides perfect and the sensitivity is perfect. I don't know if they make any southpaw versions though... or it might be ambidextrous... I'm not sure, I've never really cared lol

I love this mouse, it's also only ~$20 from Walmart. The only reason I had to buy a second one was because the paint started to come off and I didn't want to be rocking any beat up looking mouse at a LAN tournament lol

EDIT: According to Microsoft's website, the mouse is ambidextrous.

I can vouch for this. I still use my Copperhead, its one of my favorite mice ever. Its not like alot of the newer mouses geared towards MMO's and the like. It has accessory buttons but nearly like the 12-15 buttons nowadays.

used logitech products and kind of liked them. mx510 / 518, but like one guy said up at the top is that the microsoft intellimouse is THE best. Most reliable and the kind of shitty dpi is actually better! especially for FPS games. (turn off mouse accel)
