I have a modded Xbox and played it online PLENTY of times. I was banned during the Gi-normous ban waves that were happening up until the release of the Call of Duty MW2. The Xbox live service has updates every now and then, & word on the Xbox message boards says that during one of the "security updates" Microsoft gave the reflashed/modded dvd drives tests on their firmware. If the console passed the test it was banned, (for having advanced firmware) I don't know but if this update still floats around, when you connect to Xbox live there might be a possibility the console will get the test.

A flash for the new wave 4 and 5 is only like 20 bucks and that would allow play of the newest games. Modern warfare 2, tekken 6, ect. I don't use this xbox for online play and I didn't care about it cuz I'm fine with playing locally. For the people that plays a lot online, go buy an unmodded one. For people that want to play locally with your friends then this is a great deal. If people were actually interested and serious, I couldve hooked it up with more games.
