Like a dust shield that goes in between the engine & trans. Anyone have the part number? Cant find it on courtesy nissan and i need it for my 5 speed swap. SOmeone even said on nicoclub that you dont even need this...which would kinda make sense considering hondas and alot of other cars dont use these plates or whatever..

You need it or the input shaft can bottom out in the crank. Also you get nasty shit in the bellhousing on the KA. Good way to contaminate your clutch.

Flex Plate
Uh no... Flex Plate AKA Drive Plate is bolted between the crank and TQ converter on AT cars.

It's called a Rear Plate.

Look in the EM section. It's called a "rear plate" as stated above. It sits between the crank and the flywheel.

The input shaft and the crank move in and out(have some play). The input shaft sits inside the crank supported by the input bearing. The hole in the crank is not that deep.

I know someone that forgot to replace it when he did a clutch job. He got a noise that sounded like crank walk when he would push down on the clutch. Took it apart and the end of the input shaft was worn. Reinstalled the plate and the problem went away.

i still dont get how the plate affects that. are you saying like the plate not being there allowed the input shaft to move too much in and out? doenst matter either way im getting one just wanted to know lol

Reduces the clearance between the two.
