I just got a car with the head off. Apparently the previous owner had a cam break. He removed the head and got a new low mileage head and all associated gaskets.

1.)The piston wacked the valves and dinged the piston. Is the piston okay to use?

2.)Are there any writeups to installing the head? Tips and Tricks?
Ive basically got 2 heads and a whole bunch of confusion.

Thanks
Jake

You can check the fsm (http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/general-nissan-altima-discussion-1993-2001/150255-ka24de-fsm-online.html) on how to install the kade head correctly.

....its straight foward..if using arp bolts, thread them in, put gasket on, drop head in place, if using stock head bolts, put gasket on, put head on, tighten bolts to the recommmended tq, witch will be in the fsm..

Low millage head?? First step would be straight edge to see if it's good or not, then go from there. Everything else fallow the FSM step by step.
About the ding on the piston pics would help but if you can try and get a new piston in there, it could have a crack in it that you don't see.
Heres a pic with a piston with a hair line crack only visible once removed
