hello, i am seriously considering getting a carbon fiber hood for my 95 s14. now when i swap hoods, how will hte opening and locking of the new hood work?? i am not sure how hood pins work and will i need them? o will it close and lock like my previous OEM hood??

and lastly, are the ebay VIS (what is VIS stand for??) reputed and genuine or are they rip offs? i ask cuz when i go to the VIS site, they state that they dont carry invader, etc. for the s14, only the OEM style. but on ebay they have invader, etc. is that right??

all replies are appreciated, thanks!!

Call VIS they do carry the invader for the Zenki's. and the hoods come with a stock style hood latch. hood pins are highly recommended but mines been on for two months and no problems withthe stock style latch. even at 100+mph

"VIS" is a company that makes bodykits and carbon-fiber hoods.

VIS is acompany name... VIS Racing. what more meaning are you looking for? kits are all knockoffs with varying degrees of crapiness.. mine is a low crap version that fit good and has had no problems.. Hood is most excellent goodness

im actually looking for a new cf hood since mine has been weathered. i looked into the ones on ebay and actually spoke with one of the guys selling the vis versions. he is allowing me to check out the hoods in person and ill probably do so in 2 weeks. ill let you know what i think then. as for hood pins, they are a must on any aftermarket hood. my cf hood flaps in the wind and i do not trust that the hood latch wont break off and my hood flapping away.

CF hood = trash

dont waste your money

carbon compostie is the only way to go and I bet you can afford it

I have a CF hood and you can buy mine right now real cheap, just give me your stock hood too,

I got my cf hood off ebay. It's a VIS hood, it fits well and looks good. The guy's ebay user name is jtr-sport. I got it for $500 shipped in just under 2 weeks. And the packing job is excellent, no damage at all.

vis is an alright replica body kit maker, there fiber glass fitting could use some work..

but they do have the best replica cf hoods out there, compared to fiberimages/gtp or what ever, they are the best..

vis does make the invader hood for the s14... all there stuff isnt listed on there site, gotta call um up.

Yeah, the VIS CF Invader Hood looks pretty badass, but I have not seen one single pic of it on a 95-96 zenki posted anywhere. If anyone has one, please post some pics!

Hood pins bolt to the support below the hood and come out through a hole drilled in the hood. Securing pins are then inserted into the hood pin to keep the hood down.

He had a fiber images before, that hood will be mine when I stop being poor and pay him for it, and he's just too damn lazy to do anything about the headlights, but you can barely notice the yellow headlights from 100 yards behind and falling.

Hey Steeles,

Is the VIS hood latch pretty strong? Or will you be putting on hood pins later on?

had it for like 3 months now. weight... um its light lol I have no idea what it weighs but its nothing compared to the stock one. maybe SLIGHTLY heaviear than the fiberimages.. but its also vented so.. its carbon over fiberglass but the vis has rolled CF edges and the CF wraps pretty far underneath (past the hood latch). quality is EXCELLENT I like it much better than the Fiber images(even compared to when the FI was new)

hood latch is pretty darn strong. not a discerning flutter at prolonged 100+mph runs. I do still plan to add Hood pins though just in case. gotta get a set and have them anodized black though. :) keeping the stealth look. wanna do the IC too. :coolugh:

those are actually my buddy Jason's wheels. he's got my racinghart evos on hs car (see the black roof thread in OT) he used regular automotive paint. custom gunmetal color. he also did the fiberglass work on the front bumper (shaved turn signal holes and evened out the front plate indention)
