View Full Version : Closest thing to a stock muffler.. any ideas?

Hey for all you who dont have a stock muffler..

Mines going to need changing soon and I want one that is as close to stock in terms of looks as possible, as well, I want the sound to be stock sort of too. Fairly muted and nice sounding..mellow you know? Not like any lawnmower noises..

any ideas?

The stock muffler is way too expensive to replace new

HKS Super sport is the closest thing to stock ever made has a nice sound to it. does not give much HP

apexi gt spec sounds pretty mellow, kinda has a stock ring to it, looks moderately oem

just messin, id get one of them magnaflow dual tip ones they look kinda stock, i dont know how they sound though, i have an apexi rs turbo:p

you should also look in to the RS*R ex-mag. http://www.rs-r.com/exmag.htm It's quiet, simple, gives you good gains, and doesn't look like a "grapfruit shooter" :D It doesn't look at much like the stock exhaust as the HKS Hi-power, but it is another option.

dude, thanks for that RS-R link, i like that exhaust, may choose it, because THE MAN is cracking down on anything that looks aftermarket in my area... lousy so-&-so's!

i got a ExMag, but its an older model (muffler canister is same as tip)
VERY quiet, nice low rumble at idle/accel but very quiet. not annoying or buzzing or anything. mellow and clean

Uh i wouldnt go with the hks hiper if you want a stock look. It definately screams aftermarket. It is a nice sounding exhaust though. Now i wish i had gone with a more stealth "stock" look, because i got a ticket for "illegal exhaust" the other week. My exhaust is not even that loud, but you can tell its aftermarket and thats probably why i got pulled over. Its a Kei Office muffler with custom mandrel bend piping.
