I now own a Subaru until I find something I really want, so I occasionally browse NASIOC. I'm not really interested in modding my car, I just look on there for maintenance/repair stuff.
HOLY FUCK.
What a bunch of fucking fanboys.
Today I was reading on how a guy traded his WRX wagon for a brand new Genesis Coupe. Literally everyone on the forum is like "oh god, what a downgrade" ... "what a FAIL"
Someone started a thread "cleanest most sophisticated subarus". It was an entire thread of stock cars with wheels. They already have threads for each body style, that are hundreds of pages long, which show just that. Stock cars with wheels.
When I first signed up there a few months ago some people were seriously just realizing hellaflush exists and saying it's stupid and dangerous.
I seriously want to get rid of this car so I'm am no longer associated with these fucking losers. I love the cars, but the majority of the people who own them piss me off. They think soobs are the end-all in the car world.

thats why im on a Legacy only forum. I love wrxs, but the people that come with them are usually ignorant buffoons.
Besides, legacies are better anyway ;)
I've also noticed a lot of them seem to think they drive racecars.
Telling me that it was very unsafe for me to drive my car with -3 camber and that handling was suffering immensely. Even after explaining that the car handled fine and it was only driven on the street I only got the response "you just don't get it".
Oh, and I wouldn't say a lot of them have money. Majority of them are on ROTAs.

In the UK scooby drivers are sterotyped as being scummy. Put 'chav' in to google. That's how people see scooby drivers here. Not always true, but there's a lot that do live up to their sterotype. Most of the Imprezas are blue with gold wheels and rally livery. :facepalm:

i had an sti and i was pretty active on nasioc. times must have changed since 03. when i was on there a LOT there were very knowledgable and, for lack of a better word, 'normal' people/enthusiests that were excited about the cars. i just started going back recently but havent been on since 06 before this. maybe ill just stay here
and lol to the selling bbs' for rotas.

i think there were more "normal" people cause in 03-04 they were brand new so they were expensive. now that they have gotten into the single digits and teens more D-bag people can afford them, just like the SRT-4 Crowd.

I can't browse NASIOC or IWSTI for more than 5 second without seriously wanting to shoot half the people who posted on there. I used to think 240 forums were bad, but the Scooby forums are false information regurgitation x1000000
The worst thing are when these guys bitch and moan about turbo upgrades and types, when they are all capable of 10 hp from each other. And that they use fucked up stupid ass names for things, that don't even follow industry standards. PS: Also agree. They are great cars. I'm not a huge fan of their driving position though...very uncomfortable to me. I do love the EVO tho.

hm I don't get it, but for the most part I go to zilvia if I want to see trendy cars kitted/slammed/flush and I go to nico for technical help. No offense to anybody on here but I've seen some pretty funny posts in the tech section here lol

Supraforums has gotten ALOT better in the last 2-3 years i've noticed actually. cars are getting cheaper so more normal diy'ers are buying them and modding them.

Don't take it so seriously as to get rid of your car just because a bunch of d-bags on the internet can't get along. If I had known you had gone the subaru path, I would've highly encouraged you to stay away from NAZIoc. All you need to go there for are classifieds and super technical stuff (will this turbo fit, etc). If you need to chat, then go to another friendlier forum.

This IMO, is the largest problem with WRX forums. Not necessarily the false information, but the regurgitation! I mean, all members do are shout "cobb stg 2!", "smoked tail lights are rice", "don't paint your stock wheels", "STi wing is ricey", "hellaflush is hella stupid", etc. They are afraid to do something different for fear of getting trolled by e-thugs. IMHO, hellflush actually does look nice, the only reason I'd stray from it is because in some cases (specifically my Impreza) it hinders handling, otherwise it looks clean!

I just bought a 98 2.5rs 4 months ago and all i want is some Stance coilovers so i can slam it to the ground. But every person on just about any subaru forum proceeded to tell me i would mess up my cars suspension geometry and it wouldn be terrible for ride comfort. I DONT CARE! all they think about is whether or not their windshield whipers are slowing down their autocross times and how everyone elses cars are nothing compared to theres.
O and have you seen there aggresive wheel fitment thread? i can't look through it without dying from laughter. I just keep coming back to zilvia, day after day.

LOL... This made me laugh so hard when I saw this because my friend just recently bought a brand new 08' WRX, He swears by nasioc and thinks it's the shits stink. I don't understand them at all. Local shop was selling mint BBS' for cheap along with brand new rubber too I told him buy them and his response... "No way man I can't do that I'm getting rota's..."

I'm a member of the SRTForums (a friend owns one so I joined to do some research etc.) and they actually started a "HellaFlush" thread... most people run 17x7.5-8 +35-40 something like half the posts i've made on that forum are in that thread trying to explain what flush is.. and I don't even have decent fitting wheels, but I know what they are which is why i don't post pics of my car in the wheel threads...yet.

Just used iwsti for the classifields & occasional chat.
Served my purposes just fine.
Same deal with honda-tech.
I just read the classifields & the 'road race & autoX' forums.
you just have to do your best to filter out the nonsense.

It's hard for me to get passed how it used to be lol. I agree though, it's 100% better than it wasn't but still odd.
It's like, so many of their owners (STi/WRX forums included) are downright scared to try anything new, or post anything new due to 'not fitting in' and that's a shame. I'm certain there is plenty of talent i those arenas, but again, it's like lemmingfest.com ya know? Everybody following each other.
And while one side me wants to say 'well these guys are buying 15K plus cars from the get go, so maybe there is more invested than a 2k 240', I then look at EvolutionM, and love that forum....probabyl because many of them were DIY DSM guys though lol.

I still want to build a 22B STI, I think they're rad cars. My experiences with Subaru owners are limited to suspension mods, where I've engineered and fab'd some lower suspension links (a virtual LCA)... A couple companies make them at $500+, I quoted $300 with top-end heims and adjusters and 6061 aluminum rod for the center, and the guy didn't end up buying them because they weren't powder coated (so they wouldn't look cool when people looked under his wagon) and one heim spacer had about 1/16" play in it (you could move it back and forth within the heim) and he said he would "hear that" while he drove.
A lot of people told me not to deal with the Subaru crowd lol, champagne taste on an apple juice budget.

The main reason he didn't buy it, is because Cobb Tunuing didn't make a post about them and say they were the best...come on now! How can a regular guy off the street make better stuff than Cobb Tuning? hahahaha.

I just bought a 99 Subaru 2.5RS and so far i really like the car. However when I go to the RS25 forums its pretty dead and there doesnt seem to be any strong accurate info. I havent ventured much into NASOIC but they do seem to go for that Rota stuff over their BBS wheels, lol.
I want hellaflush fitment on my car but I cant even get a straight answer without being told that there is no way i can run the wheel size I want. I wish the Subaru forums could be like Zilvia :(

classifields/gb/sales specials are organized and serve their purpose well.
If I had to compare the evolutionm.net to naisoc,
my impression would be there's a bit less riff-raff among evo owners.

Anyways, I love subbies and my bro just got his 09 WRX. Very nice and quick off the line. You shouldn't be wanting to sell your car because a bunch of e-tards on NASIOC, you have to admit we have a couple of e-tards ourselves on this forum. But it shouldn't be to the point of wanting to sell your car because of them.
I wasn't being serious, although this car(2002 WRX wagon) is semi-temporary. Looking at getting a newer STI or E39 M5 in a year or so.

The newer WRX's 09 & up are already pretty nice.
I really don't see how the newer STi's can now justify their 9k-ish premium.
I'm sure it's hard to go wrong with either.
Damn dealers are gouging with the GD8 STi's and selling them for almost 30k.
Wish I did not get rid of mine back in the day.

ive had 3 subarus so far. i got through cars quick haha. not totalling them. just build it up with money i make and then get bored and sell it for something new. first had an 02 kept it stock. then bought a 2 door impreza and did a wrx swap 18g ewg ect. got bored and decided to get an 08 sti. had it for 9 months and sold it because i missed having a project car. what leads me to having my ka swapped datsun 510.
i love subarus. i love how they drive and the boxer engine. but personally its not the best car ever made. most kids now adays are picking up wrx's for like 8k. and they all think they are the shit. its just kids these days. obviously im only 20 but i have never really thought i was the shit. how i seee it. someone will always be faster. lower or have a cleaner car. always someone out there will out do you.
and i do admit. there are alot of people who post on there who read untrue info from a non experienced person and spread that to more people. hense why there is so much bullshit info flating around nasioc.

eclipse forums are worse. when i had my gs-t they booted me off and sent me a virus because i kept refusing to capitalize my letters before every sentence. they then went on to procede saying that 240's are lame. i dunnno words are words but a virus fucks shit up. i was very pissed.

idk, wheels are absurdly expensive these days.
a set of 4 18x9.5 volks are well over 3k!
rotas are fine for most applications imo.
I've owned a used set on my old crx, and it was fine.

but i've come to the conclusion that people who post on nasioc are generally older. They admit to the fact that the EVO will be faster than the STi, and they HATE SRT-4's lol

Did the same move, just didn't sell the 240. I got an 05 WRX and thought it'd be pretty cool to get into them. Turns out now once logging on their forums & seeing how shit's so frustrating about trying to ask questions to them about wheel stuff, I get labeled as a "hellaflush hipster" who doesn't know that real performance wheels are Rotas. I suppose I actually maybe missed..? the 240 crowd. Now my WRX remains a daily driver with no intent of fixing it up other than replacing the Rotas that came on it.
That damn bar brawling picture is kind of true in a way too. It feels like a walked into a Subie bar, didn't feel the vibe & said fuck this, this shit feels lame. Even though I liked Subarus before I got into Nissans I just wasn't feeling it. Zilvia feels more like my kind of bar I guess.

^^ Pretty broad huh? The wrx's are nice, sporty and comfy cars don't get me wrong. Way better suited for the streets and bringing friends along for shit. 240's you're limited to passengers while having to endure the bounciness or avioding anything steep/dips & speedbumps all day. Well modded ones anyway..

People here who buy 3-4k wheels do it solely for bragging rights. It's a fancy conversation piece to start a circle jerk over. Rotas are lightweight, cheap, and replaceable. Nobody who actually drives their car wants 1 off jdm tight wheels. If 1 wheel goes to shit, the rest are paper weights.
3-4k on a wrx can get you setup with a full turboback, sti turbo, injectors, tune, intercooler, and a set of rotas on good tires.
Or you can forget all that and just buy fancy jdm tight wheels with no rubber for that amount.
The people in the wrx forums are older, and more pragmatic with their money.
