Hi guys,

I am new in the world of turbo cars hehe
Can someone tell me what turbo is this turbo please?
I know it has been discussed over and over again, i have been trying to look for it on the internet, but havent came with a conclusion..

When I first bought it, I saw 472560-5015 on the box, I was told by the seller its a GT2871R but i've been taking a close look to the pictures I have taken before the install and it looks exactly the same as the S15 SpecR turbo Nissan Factory OEM S15 Spec R SR20DET Ball Bearing Turbo Garrett GT28R (http://www.frsport.com/Nissan-Factory-OEM-S15-Spec-R-SR20DET-Ball-Bearing-Turbo-Garrett-GT28R_p_1265.html)

Here are few pictures of my turbo:

Thanks for the help folks!

You took 14 million pictures and missed the only shot that would make it easy to identify.

Take a pic of the inducer of the compressor with the housing on. That's the "outside" of the compressor wheel(aluminum housing one).

No way you could tell that from the pics unless you know what an NS111 turbine wheel looks like.

It could easily be a 52 trim GT2871R.

to me you missed the most important pic.

where the water/oil lines connect to the turbo, there should be a little badge. what is that information please. it would help determine what turbo it is.

shiny turbo none the less :) easily get you into the 300's with supporting mods

Well, I have a picture, but I dont have the whole number pictured.. only have the 5 last digits.. 0-5015 so it's probably 472560-5015 as it's the only part number I could see ending by those digits.. I miss all the important pictures, i'll take some when my gf comes back from her trip, she left me with no camera!! fawk!

From what I have been told, only the internals are different from those two turbos..

Also, I am definately grabbing all the supporting mods for 300+whp.. Wanna start with the upgraded oil pan, oil cooler and oil temp press gauges tho, injectors and maf might have to wait couple more months :) After all, it's winter where I live lol, I have 4 months to save up hehe

I also heard the part number 472560-5015 is the same as GT2871R - 472560 - 15 pictured on the Garrett website

Anyone able to confirm?

If the inducer barely reduces down from the compressor inlet diameter, it's a GT2871R 52 trim. If the inducer reduces down by a decent bit(~1/2" or more), then it's a GT2560R, aka S15 turbo.

I'd say a 2871R. The exhaust housing on the s15 turbo has a smaller notch in the divider wall.

Here's a photo of my 2871R ex housing (with Tial housing comparison) and it looks identical.
