pros- cheap low compressions pistons
ummmm no. ka24e pistonin a ka24de = higher compression. no real cons only the fact that you have to tune it

HHAHA yeah, if your building an N/A DOHC KA then SOHC pistons, cams, light weight flywheel, a few more goodies and your gonna hit maybe near 200 hp. Not much but better then a regular unmodified KA.

cons: If you do not have a micrometer set and bore gauge, you risk putting in warped or bad pistons into your engine, and having to tear it apart again.
If you are going to the trouble to take something apart all the way, do it right. Besides, I'd recommend you get new rings and gap them accordingly anyway, and that will cost a little on its own, so might as well get them included with new pistons.

SOHC pistons in DOHC engine will give you approx 11:1 compression, then use the S13 exhaust cam as an intake and keep the S14 exhaust cam for the exhaust. Maybe bigger fuel injectors and a good tune.

How do you figure? Have you run this set up?
I've ridden in two cars with SOHC pistons and 248 in/ex cam set ups
wakes up the KA and a big improvement over stock.

anything is better then a stock KA. Every little thing you do with a KA makes a difference. I took off my ac and clutch fan and ran a n/a tune on nistune and i noticed a big difference.I can only immagine how the high compression pistons would be. It sounds tit.
With higher compression your going to need to run higher octane fuel(93) if your not already.

We run them on 91 just fine
The factory maps are way too rich, a good tune does wonders for the motors aswell.
